He’s not. State law states that you cannot have a loaded firearm in a vehicle unless you are licensed to do so.
State law also defines a firearm as:
A short barreled rifle or shotgun
An “assault weapon”
A pistol
An automatic firearm.

State law does not define a ban-compliant AR, a shotgun, a licensed pistol, a Kel-Tec, or a Remington 700 rifle as a firearm.

Way to much gray area in those laws and definitions for me to say that riding around with a loaded gun other than pistol is legal. Fuck that.
