i could put my car on a different dyno and have it read 400awhp as it sits… different dynos read differently. a dyno is ONLY a tuning tool.
what dyno did byron run on? Any idea if it reads high, low, average?
those numbers were @ tdc tuning in new hampshire on a DYNOmite dyno. from what ive seen… it reads outrageously high.
he dyno’d at moon on 93 + water injection only @ 25psi and made within 4-5hp of what i am on 2.5psi less and i still have tgv’s and the stock topmount with no water
The 477AWHP STI that trapped 119? That’s what you call a high reading dyno.
thats what I thought ;D
I shouldn’t say that withot seeing the dyno graph. It’s possible it’s VERY peaky but the HP/WEIGHT/TRAP at glance don’t match up.
i found a copy of byrons dynosheet from tdc on unysoc.org… here it is. make your own conclusions
A lot of TQ drop off.
my dyno plot from moon for comparison.
i think ive only raced in like two roll races, 90 percent of most races i see or am part of a from a dig
losing to an AWD car from a roll is discouraging aint it? :runaway
Someone tell me what “Correction Method: Observed” means because I always wondered that when looking at Byron’s dyno plot. I think that is the highest whp ever dynoed with a 7cm 2.4" inlet green on an STI.
I trapped 119 on the stock motor + 35r, and the same tune dynoed 415whp on a dyno dynamics with no correction factor.
My old plot from KTR… the curve looks like travis’ FP green lol.
yah… the dyno dynamics you were on jay is a true kick in the balls dyno. moon is somewhere in the middle of both, but still on the lower side of things… but very…accurate id say.
So true, “The Shop” in CT runs the same dyno with a 1.20 CF so I woulda made 498 there.
not bad for your own home brew tune.
DING DING DING! That’s much better.
For me, I went 117.5 with 454AWHP DJ in a 4,075LBS car.
I still like the Mustang dyno for real world #'s, of course seeing a huge hp # is cool.
you def have one of the highest hp cars around here (sorta) but id love to see what your car would put down @ moon on their mustang dyno… i shy away from dynojets now with all the funky correction factors they use. uncorrected i made 346hp/344tq… SAE corrected i made 366hp/364tq… put my car on “the shop’s” or “ics’s” dyno in connecticut and i could see 400+…
I don’t use correction factors but aside from that, SMOOTHING makes a bit of a difference too.
The problem with DynoJets and other dynos is that people make blanket statements (ie Mustang reads low/DJ reads high). That’s just not true. There’s firmware/software changes that are different from dyno to dyno. For me, mine #s like the other cars on that dyno read what the car should make at the track.
Ask Cossey about the blown big block that made less power/TQ than my car at low boost.
