The "Oil Prices" thread.

do you guys live out in Irving or something?

where are you finding this cheap gas? It’s $2.17 in Depew/Lancaster area.

And when i look at buffalogasprices.com the only places that cheap say Irving.

Oh no, for once I agree with something you posted!

but yea, not that I mind paying less for gas, but with it being this low, the cycle is just going to repeat itself now.

That’s why I was happy with mid $60/bbl oil…oh well

i heard on the radio today that a barrel will be dropping to less than 25$, resulting in less than a dollar per gallon within the next few months…

sorry if this is a “repost” i havent gone thru the whole thread lol

Well if you plot a chart of historic prices of support and resistance after it breaks about $39-40 the next support isnt till about $25. Although charts dont lie they really do lol.

Well turns out Buffalo gas stations are price gouging. (I cant find the link) They are averaging around 25 cents/gallon in profit compared to 10 cents/gal avg nationwide.
They are being forced to lower their prices or will be fined heavily.

lol do we know the date they have to go down by?

try and get that link

They are not price gouging, price fixing possibly. Gouging is pricing above the market price with no other retailer available. Both are still illegal.

Examples:
Price gouging - being the only gas station open during hurricane katrina and charging $100 for a gallon of gas.

Price fixing - Station A calls up Stations B,C,D,E… etc and says they won’t lower the price if the rest of the stations don’t.

I saw this like a week ago on the news and I was like '“OK what now”? The story just ended like “We are getting screwed, oh well”. lol

Ok then, price fixing.
I cant find any link for it, it was on wivb channel 4.

Collusion maybe?

The problem with price fixing is that it is going to be very hard to prove.

The way it seems, is all the stations in WNY were waiting to see what their competitors did and that kept the gas prices from falling. Channel 2 just said the average WNY station is making about 38 cents profit on every gallon, where other areas of the country, the stations are making around 10 cents or so. I’m just glad I don’t have to pay for gas

wont be long till its back over $3 in good ole WNY- Gas prices break streak as oil jumps to over $49. and OPEC is going to announce HUGE output cuts on the 17th.

filling up my 500 gallon storage tank

Back down to 47.

I filled up with this a little while ago, and then drove down the street and saw 1.64 for 93.

So Higgins’ investigation definitely scared the retailers into stopping the collusion. 4 weeks ago when I went to Syracuse, price difference was 30 cents. This weekend, I went back, and it was even.

great just when we avg 1.99 in buffalo gas prices go back up

Not likely any time soon. The demand just isn’t there and regardless of what OPEC does history has shown they have little control over the price of oil. When the price was skyrocketing their production increases did nothing to lower the price, and their cuts now are going to do nothing to increase the price. And that’s assuming they can actually follow through on their cut and get all members to stick to it.

PS: Oil is down $1.30/barrel today, sitting right around $45 again. So much for the “it’s gonna be $50 on Monday” doom predictions.

Oil $40.48 -3.54

FUCK YOU OPEC!!! :eekdance:

:thankyou:

Huh? Isn’t it going down a GOOD thing?

(or did you buy stock?)

I’m saying “WOO HOO!” since I was worried my 93 would start to cost more again…
