I had to take an English composition class this semester, so I figured I would mail it to The Sun for the hell of it, and it was actually published!

Editor, The Sun:
It seems that the crime rates in the suburbs of Western New York are increasing along with our plummeting economy.
With citizens struggling day to day, they now go to the extremes just to get by. People are stealing copper for scrap, gasoline is being stolen at service stations with drive-offs and gasoline is even being siphoned from cars!
Other criminal acts around town include robbery and burglaries in residential neighborhoods for valuables such as jewelry and electronics to pawn off.
A simple solution one might say is to increase law enforcement, but how can that be done when officers are being laid off, stations using less patrol units and even rumors of shutting down the Village of Hamburg and Village of Blasdell’s police departments.
My question is this — can we get state or federal aid for anti-theft units for our vehicles and residential houses?
I believe this could bring down the crime rate in this time of economic struggle.
