The Trump Presidency Discussion Thread (Non-Meme version)

Everything that people are talking about from that press conference is just rubbish at this point.

Trump is getting his list ticked off and everything else is nonsense to him.

For a reporter to bring up anti semitism at a presidential press conference is really just silly and he should be told to sit down.

There are far bigger issues that Trump is dealing wth and the media is the least of his concerns and he has no problem telling them that.

Yeah, the constant hyperbole doesn’t help his credibility.

Did you watch it?

Trump didn’t seem to understand the antisemitism question at all.

just caught this on facebook… didnt want to share but thought i would copy paste here:

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.
Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash “under the table”.
Ready? Now pay attention…
Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.
Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.0 0 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.
Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics and emergency hospitals at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.
Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps, WIC and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has 9,631 …00.
Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month Federal Rent Subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for car insurance. Some of that is uninsured motorist insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.
Jose Illegal says, “We don’t need no stinkin’ insurance!” and still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc…
Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month…
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal’s and Jose Illegal’s children both attend the same elementary school.
Joe Legal pays for his children’s lunches, while
Jose Illegal’s children get a government sponsored lunch.
Jose Illegal’s children have an after school ESL program.
Joe Legal’s children go home.
Now, when they reach college age,
Joe Legal’s kids may not get into a State School and may not qualify for scholarships, grants or other tuition help, even though Joe has been paying for State Schools through his taxes, while
Jose Illegal’s kids “go to the head of the class” because they are a minority.
Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.
Do you get it, now?
If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens… You are part of the problem!

None of this is true.

You can’t get those benefits without a social security number.

Undocumented immigrants have no ss#

For real. That shit is the problem. Idiots see that and think it’s true and get all excited.

the tax part is bullshit too. That guy would have a much lower tax rate than 30%.

Some of its true, some of its not. They definitely get free medical by just showing up the at ER. If they pop out a kid that kid gets full benefits as well.

is the problem then that it states that Jose is illegal and therefore not entitled to much of what is described? Would it be truer if Jose were a refugee or a legal immigrant?

A LEGAL resident can work under the table and reduce their taxable income to game the system too…

Lots of illegal aliens have social security numbers. It’s really not uncommon.

Recent example, here ya go: http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/09/us/arizona-guadalupe-garcia-de-rayos-protests/

… her eighth visit since her 2008 arrest and conviction for using a fake Social Security number. After each meeting, the married mother of two was released and went back to her family.
This time was different.
The undocumented immigrant was detained Wednesday and deported within 24 hours to her native Mexico, in what her lawyer claims is a direct result of US President Donald Trump’s crackdown…

People break the law to get into the US, and they also break the law and acquire the social security number of dead people.

I agree that most of the FB thing Bing posted is BS and misleading.

Falsified social security numbers are certainly not the norm, that’s why people are deported in raids, since they don’t have paperwork.

Convicted felons aren’t able to ever become citizens, and for those who haven’t been in trouble, gaining immigrant status takes many years and a significant amount of money (~$15k iirc)

The article stated she was in compliance with the regulations of the system

I hear what you’re saying and appreciate it, we just need to make sure exceptions aren’t misinterpreted as norms.

an important element to remember

So this is an interesting outcome, along the lines of killing net neutrality.

States make boat loads of money from gas tax…EV = No gas tax revenue makes sense.

What about this? income tax on robots

if we are going to tax the robots we should probably let them vote also

Taxing EVs is a logical step. They will be using the same roads as gas cars so they should help to pay for the maintenance. It’s just unfortunate that the only reason this is happening is because the oil industry is attacking EVs to keep their profits higher for longer.

I’d say about 90% of illegal aliens i’ve encountered who’ve been in the US for more than a few months have a fake social security card.

A social security number is NOT proof of citizenship/legal residency. Illegal aliens buy/produce fake social security cards to show their employers, this way, the employer can say “hey, I checked if he was able to legally work here, and he showed me his SS#, how am I supposed to know it’s fake?”

No, it costs $725. And yes, for some citizens of certain countries, it may take years, because the line is huge. Should we just let millions of people flood in every month? I’m sure our infrastructure can handle that.

the moans of dems when he announced VOICE was the best part of the address to congress last night.

love it!

You guys have NO idea how many times LEGAL residents (Lawfully Admitted Permanent Residents) get lowered sentences based on the fact that they have conditions to their residency.

For example, if you or I (US Citizens) beat someone within an inch of their life, we’d likely be convicted of aggravated assault, and sentenced to more than one year in prison. If you’re here on a conditional status (LAPR), and are convicted of a felony, you are considered deportable. SO, if you’re a LAPR, and you commit this same crime… you may be sentenced to 364 days in prison,(making it a misdemeanor) to avoid deportation.

Not saying this happens every time, but it happens more times than not.

We’re going to have to get this thread going again. I’m surprised at how quiet it has been considering what has been going on lately.

Before getting into Republicare; Why did Trump accuse a former president of ordering a wire tap on Trump Tower? Meanwhile his staff can’t even defend the statement. Wouldn’t a judge need to grant that request? And wouldn’t that mean that significant indication of wrongdoing was happening in order for that request to be granted?

Well, what we know for sure is the FBI submitted a warrant application to a FISA court regarding Trump administration contacts with Russia. Beyond that things get really hard to prove because that’s the whole point and major problem of a secret court.

But is it really that hard to believe an administration that has been caught MULTIPLE times spying on it’s own citizens, as well as 35 instances of phone taps on world leaders, would do this?

You still can’t go around making claims like that without evidence though.
