The Trump Presidency Discussion Thread (Non-Meme version)

A reality TV star is our president…

But he hasn’t done it. It’s not a reward when it hasn’t happened yet.

Okay? I didn’t say he HAS rewarded them. I’m saying that there is certainly something in it for these Russians to have someone with financial ties to Russia in the WH. They didn’t put the propaganda machine on full tilt because they like Trump steaks.

Or maybe Russia kicked the propaganda machine into gear because WWIII is bad for everyone?

Maybe. Probably not, but I’m willing to entertain the opposing view. How about you?

Honestly, Russia doesn’t have enough firepower to start WW3 with the US. No one does. Unless they suddenly convinced China and half of Europe to join them, they’d only be killing themselves by starting a conflict. And they know that.

Maybe, maybe not, but Clinton’s warhawk rhetoric definitely showed it would be in Russia’s best interest for her not to be president. It’s a far stronger argument than speculation of what they might be able to get from Trump.

lol. You just like arguing.

Simply put, it was in Russia’s best interest politically and financially to have a Trump presidency rather than a Clinton one. We agree there. When you have a list of Russian officials banned from the US because of their involvement in the death of a tax fraud investigator who would like their money back, it gives them an incentive to get a Russia friendly face in the oval office.

But dude, Clinton got the debate questions ahead of the debate. That’s fucked up.

everything Josh said is now how i feel

CNN has totally lost it. This nonsense they’re running with now about, “TRUMP’S HAS UNDISCLOSED MEETING WITH PUTIN” is just ridiculous. It was a dinner, hosted by Merkel, with all the G20 leaders there. Trump sat between Japan and Russia and after the dinner talked with Putin. THAT’S WHAT PRESIDENTS DO AT THESE THINGS! It’s nice that unlike Bush who would have just taken this nonsense Trump immediately blasted CNN as #FakeNews again on Twitter.

@JayS I know we’ve talked about it before, but what would you say is one of the better news sources in terms of accuracy and non-bias?

RT seems pretty fair and unbiased

I don’t know why you have a problem with the CNN article. they didn’t say it was illegal. it’s amusing since we didn’t have a translator and also with how big the who Russia thing is going and on top of that Trump is generally looking to help Russia for nothing beyond personal gain that I can see.

Memes? I’ve pretty much given up on the media. It’s either, “OMG MUH RUSSIAZ!” from the mainstream or, “OMG MUH GOD EMPOROR TRUMPZ!” from the likes of Info Wars etc.

Being serious though the complete lack of reputable news sources is probably the biggest threat facing the world right now. We sold out news to ratings years ago and I’m not sure how you close that pandora’s box.

So where are you taking in your information then? News sources doesn’t need to be exclusive to media outlets.

Meh. That’s buying into a narrative.

No, it’s really not. I know you’re blinded to it simply because the media happens to align with your personal bias but anyone right or center can see they’re incredibly left leaning. Bill Clinton took in a half a million from Russia for a single speech while Hillary was Secretary of State and siding with Russia on some Russian sanctions. But Trump talking to Putin after a dinner is a major headline.

I’m open to talking about that stuff too. You do a lot of projecting with me for some reason and don’t realize how centered I am on most issues.

You also haven’t answered the question. What do you find is the best way to gather information on current events regarding US politics?

This is from last week but it’s worth watching. This isn’t sensationalism. It’s honest questioning of the scenario unfolding before us. It’s completely reasonable for people to be concerned about Trump’s true agenda.

IB4 JayS starts cherry picking Fox News. Don’t worry, your hashtag is already warmed up. #fauxnews At least you still have Sean Hannity.

Yawn. Gonna be honest with you, I just don’t care and it’s not worth my time to keep talking about it. You can keep bumping this every week or so with the next, “this is gonna be the one” headline if you want.

I’ve literally never done that. I put up current events and issues to get a better sense of what’s going on. I, unlike you, actually want to hear both sides.

Hey by the way. what do you think is a good source of information for US politics?

There is no good source of information thats not biased, period. You pretty much need to read everything and come to your own conclusions. The truth probably lies somewhere right of the middle.

Dan

Hence I started this thread. But then you come here trying to ask questions and people constantly derail the discussion talking about the MSM. It’s pathetic. There are facts in the news that we can all discuss.

i tried watching CNN last night in my hotel room… couldnt last more than a few minutes.

the news in general sucks.

i stick with reuters mostly but it’s a bit too lefty these days too.
