The Trump Presidency Discussion Thread (Non-Meme version)

Why does the GOP feel the need to make comparisons and excuses? We’re talking about people who are openly racist and all you are doing is whining about other groups ‘doing this and that and waaa waaa’. Why is this such a complicated thing for you to agree with?

So a bunch of a racists held a LEGAL protest and exercised their 1st amendment rights…

Lots of people including the president condemned the group and their racist message…

It’s not complicated

People are arguing about how/why there was violence which is a separate topic.

So now you’re debating is it ok to attack people don’t agree with

Walking down the street with torches chanting ‘Jews will not replace us’, ‘Blood and soil’, etc is legal. Fucked up, but legal nonetheless.

Saturday morning when these people were screaming ‘fuck you faggot’, ‘go back to Africa, n----rs’, etc at the counter protesters they were not within the bounds of the 1st amendment.

*Forum automatically blanks out the n word.

So have the police arrest them if they violated some law? I don’t think those are event 1st amendment violations.

For whatever reason once both sides were squaring off the police suspended their operations in the area.

We all agree white supremacists suck

So what is your solution limit the 1st amendment? or legalize attacking people you don’t agree with? both?

Hey look, you formed a sentence denouncing white supremacists without ranting about the left. Good for you.

So you’re out of actual things to say

If that makes you feel better, sure.

Tim Cook is being politically correct and not condemning people for riotting at Berkeley and killing police officers… i don’t care though becuase the leftist peeps going ape-shit is what prompted these far right white guys to do the same. cause and effect, action and reaction.

both sides are racist bigots. also, i dont care about racism or bigotry. anyone who expressing genuine racism and bigotry is doing me a favor in doing so by virtue signalling and letting me know not to take them too seriously. being offended by it is silly and unproductive.

that racism and bigotry are only being called on the one side is a perfect example of why i dont agree with Tim Cook’s comments. And why i agree with Trump’s.

the bar for what is considered racist or inappropriate now is too low. People dont even know what racism is anymore. My kids sit here saying it’s racist to describe a black person as a black person. They have a friend who is black. how else are you suppose to describe the person?

i’m not full white so i could easily use racism as a crutch, but i don’t, because im not a pussy.

You have to love the irony here. All those Dems and libs that came out in support of the “Maidan Revolution” and actually made speeches there…at gatherings that wete filled with militant ukrainian skinheads and neonazis are now crying and moaning! The people that toppled the Ukrainian regime were mostly neonazis. That is a fact. I have family there who witnessed it all. Its actually when i stopped believing msm reporting , getting live updates from family and bs from msm.

Oh wait I’m sorry #falseequivalency

@bing “both sides are racist bigots”

you’re saying that the counter-protesters in Charlottesville are racist bigots?

Confederate statues were erected despite losing the civil war but it’s the REMOVAL of them that’s attempting to change history?

This is bigger than just Charlottesville.

“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

Oh and

Yeah, I’m not agreeing with trying to go to all sorts of lengths to remove these names from shit. There is, however, a significant meaning behind a statue of General Lee that I understand being a problem for a black person.

Germany acknowledges, but doesn’t memorialize Nazis. We should do the same for people who fought and killed other Americans over the idea of acknowledging black people as equals.

Slippery slope.

People can chose to be offended by anything. Not all black people give a shit out that statue.

If you start removing everything that is offensive to ‘someone’ then everything will become offensive.

I find this to be completely inappropriate and therefore find comfort in people being equally inappropriate on the opposing side of the argument.

I think we collectively agree that black people being offended by a statue of General Lee is pretty much the correct response.

NC Gov has proposed relocating the statues. Just imagine being a black person, walking into a courthouse, for even just something minor like a traffic ticket. You’re already a minority, labeled, judged, etc… Then you have to walk past the statue of a man who literally fought a war to keep your ancestors as slaves. It’s a slap in the face. Plain and simple.

So I don’t think that anyone is trying to erase history, but it would be nice if we could not alienate people living their everyday lives.

The vast majority of people don’t even realize who it is and/or their significance not really relevant however still humorous watching peoples fake outage.

If you’re striving to make things right whats the plan to give America back to the native americans? Twelve presidents owned slaves at some point in their lives should we remove anything in reference to them also?

Or people could see the statue understand who it is and see how generations have over come…but hey glass half empty/half full.

It’s just hilarious to see people who defend Planned Parenthood also say that “its a proper response for black people to be offended by Robert Lee statue”.

It’s also a perfect response to burn down and destroy the organization that was created for the sole purpose of controlling the black population ie the racist founding of Planned Parenthood. It’s the pure definition of racism.

How about the fact that until very recently, the Democratic party was the party of slavers…did we forget that part of history? Is it not justified to tear down and erase everything that has to do with the Democratic party? The party of racism?

False equivalency?

What’s the difference between kkk, neonazis etc and the counterprotesters like Antifa? None at all. Both justify the use of extreme violence to bring about their own version of totalitarianism.

If we have an issue with executing actual murderers and pedophiles, doesn’t that mean that violence against even groups like the neonazis is unjustified?

Both those extreme right and the likes of Antifa , BLM should just be labeled as domestic terrorists and dealt with accordingly.

Here’s something seemingly omitted… If African Americans are actually offended by these statues…where were they at these protests? Where are the masses of outraged African Americans at these rallies? Just a bunch of white college kids who have nothing better to do.
