The worlds richest business man is the worlds cheapest bastard..

fuck liking a job. Everyone would like to have a job–myself included. Yet if im a business owner, im not hiring someone b/c they would like a job. Im hiring them b/c they deserve the job. Thats what is wrong w/ the work force. everyone wants top dollar, but no one wants to work for shit. As a business owner, i would want the best qualified person i can get for the job.

If the best qualified person does not appreciate the job they have they will be your worst employee. You will get more production out of a person who is under trained and willing to work than a person who is highly qualified and doesn’t care about their job. That is the biggest problem in todays work force. These kids think that since Mommy and Daddy paid for them to go to school they “deserve” a good job.

What exactly do you do for a living?

i turn wrenches in a salvage yard b/c my 2 college degrees didnt get me shit yet for a job. do i blame my degrees or college for it, no. i keep looking for a job finding ways to better myself.

And it doesn’t piss you off that those jobs you could have are being outsourced to guy in India reading a script and fucking most of the companies systems? You should be more outraged than me. You have 2 degrees and your not putting them to good use… more than likely because… that job skill is in India right now.

What are the degrees for?

no,. it dont piss me off, as i dont see people from india stealing jobs related to eng lit, history, or editing work :). What does piss me off is when i go for job interviews, i get turned down b/c im overqualified, and people dont want to train me due to fear i will leave in a year for a better paying job. 2 years i been hearing that shit. Maybe i should not have busted my ass in college to “better” myself by being an editor for a scholarly journal (yes,i cna read and write well, despite my net typing sucking dick)

Furthermore, I taught (as a volunteer none the less) english as a second language, as well as taught illiterate adults how to read. Majority of the people i worked w/ was of foreign decent. All of them were wives of tech people who moved into the johnstown area as a direct result of defense department contracts (ctc, lockhead, boeing)

im all for best person for the job. The best person allways gets paid more. All this equal opp. is 100% bullshit. I dont care if it is contrsution or technical job, best person shoudl get it. I know if i worked construction, i wouldn’'t want someone hired b/c of minority bs, or favoritism. i want them on the job site b/c they know their shit. Especially if im doing something where a fuck up can physically kill me- like construction trades.

I agree best person for the job… but… the companies are also looking at the cost of the person… so many of them are sacrificing quality for finances… they are willing to put a less qualified person on the job for a lot less money and deal with it. Most large companies think a body at the desk is a body at the desk.

And if the folks in other countries are so much more qualified than we are… maybe our education system needs examined more. I am seriously not trying to be a dick about this but we are looking head on to a disaster in the near future. We have to protect our jobs… the same way the steel industry is.

I think it is absolutely horrible that college grads in the US are unable to get jobs in any field because someone in India is doing the same job for $20 an hour less.

go back to sleep…

we do need to look at our school system. i find it sad that a college prof, who has tons of education, gets paid less than h.s. teachers. even more ironic, i seen college profs fail kids, who then got out w/ a d grade, but still landed teaching jobs teaching the shit they failed b/c that one class didnt hurt their overall grades.

further more, i find it sad that secondary teachers are so underqualified for their job. to be a 2nd. lit or history teacher, u take like 5 classes related to the field ur teaching and a shit load of teaching classes–hardly an expert in the field let alone qualified to teach about it…

that irks me to no end that 2nd lit/history teachers, who made it out of college w/ intro classes to their respective field are teaching our future about shit they barely know.

Ignore previous… I mis-read your statement…

yes our school system isn’t the best. We have people graduating who don’t have any REAL job skills… They know the logistics of the job but no idea how to actually perform the job. There is a difference. I am a High School graduate… I never went to college. Everything I learned I taught myself and listened very close as others were telling me things. I now hold one of those “Support” jobs you talked about earlier. I can gaurantee that i will get further than a college degree because of my willingness to work. Maybe we need to teach work ethic too… because those folks in India… work til they drop.

i can’t, i’m waiting for you :69:

oh geez… again?

yes, it is a problem. but someone got a hair up their ass and decided that to be able to teach people, u need tons of classes to learn how to interact w/ people. That apparently is more important than knowing ur shit.

to me, if u know your shit, u know it. You shouldnt have to take a bunch of classes to learn how to interact w/ students— that is somehting that should just happen. those classes would be better spent actually being trained for the field u are going to teach.

if anything, make teachers get reg. 4 yr degrees in the field, then take a 5th year on teaching classes. They would deffinitely be more qualified.

The teaching part should definitely be natural. But I’m thinking the curriculum needs examined. Maybe it needs pointed in a more specific direction…

^^^^ This coming from a non-college person.

x2

I am in the same boat, except I have not taught everything to myself. I totally agree with the work ethic though. I have a very strong work ethic. At every job I have ever had I take it serisouly, never call off unless it was warrented (in almost 3 1/2 years at my current job I called off once after my 6 month probationary period because my guts were acting up and I couldn’t walk). You remember me bitch a few weeks ago about always getting called in, yeah that due to people with poor work ethics playing the system.

One of my biggest selling points when I go for a job interview is my “work ethics and always looking to expand with in a company”. It has worked for the past 9 years and this is actually the first job I stayed at due to liking so that is a bonus.

Todays “kids” want everything handed to them, which is pathedic. I belive that has to do with parents in general. It is easier to throw money at them and let them do what they want, than acutally disipline them. Christ growing up I lived with my dad and he was strict and I didn’t agree with everything, yet now I understand why. My brother and sister lived with my mom and she was never strict. Now my sister is doing ok, but if you measure my brother and me together talk about two different worlds.

Sorry went a bit off topic - not too much though

gates is a hippocrit. he’s worth 80bil, with this move he’d be worth exponentially more, like walmart money… and yet he says money means nothing and that he’s going to give only 10mil to his kids and the rest to charity. ok… give it to the american working public as charity you henry clay frick wannabe. :eyesroll:
