Crack strut tower? no welder? no problem

because in 10 years, he can just udno the bolts to do it again rather then having to re drill the holes…
what could go wrong?

I dont see the issue
I see no problems here…
could be worse
fixed
actually the only way it could be worse is for it to have used JBWELD
lol, i honestly had no idea what was wrong… then i noticed he cut out a shock tower from another car and then bolted the black one in?
i though the white shit was like some gay rubber coating shit
Hahahaha, that’s fantastic. Even better than the e46 owner who didn’t change his oil for 60k miles.
LOL classy repair right there
What shocks me more is how a strut tower fails like that on what looks like a mostly rust free car.
the fix is fine, its threads like this that make me hate being a bmw owner. Alot of cars have rivited in ball joints that get replaced with bolts, and im sure if it was that structurely imported bmw woulda did more then spot weld it ni a few spots. No its not astheticly pleasing as welding but it gets the job done.
You’re wrong. There’s nothing better than that.
Meh, looks ghetto as hell but apparently its still holding up fine after 23k miles according to
the owner. Prove to me that replacing spot welds with an equal number of bolts makes for
a less structurally sound strut tower then maybe I’ll care.
funny thread fail backfire
Honestly, it looks better than the Chrysler approved repair on my gf’s old town and country
:banghead:
if he had instead cut inner and outer plates that bolted together to sandwich the damage area it would be a non issue, this however is a complete hack, and I’m sure hes going to be surprised when this fails. he wont know how such a brilliant repair went so wrong.
he could have easily had someone come weld it after it was all drilled out
I love how he didn’t even use washers
I agree, but I do think he should have used washers.
you must have missed the part where it has lasted 23k miles
i dont care if its lasted that long, its still NOT in any way a reasonable way to repair this damage. he didnt even use the proper bolts for the job.
hack work is hack work is hack work, its that simple
maybe if he pulled the suspension down, slipped a tightly fitting sleeve covered in goo over it, then riveted it into place it would be better. well, at least chrysler would say it is better?
