Things to jump off of into water in WNY

it’s actually pretty hard to backflip off a rope like that. Requires a LOT of ab strength.

It’s no quad backflip but it’s fun fast and high!

did u ever look into the bridge on transit road where it turns into southwestern. I never pay attention to it while im driving but it seams realy high and over the creek.

The falls on the salmon river west of the reservoir I hear some people have jumped off is the highest cliff I can think of. Its really tall 100-120 ft. Not sure the closest town I go fishing on the res there every year and stay around redfeild. The res and fishing is really good, but super poor around there, maybe 4 hrs from buffalo?

thats nuts

3sec air!!!

newman I never measured stuff, but did some under 2sec. at the 1000islands a few cliffs. Whats that 50-60ft?

That looks like a LOT of fun

Edit: (Newman’s rope swing)

My first (and only) jump off of Salmon River Falls!!

Something tells me it wasn’t much fun at all considering he only did it once.

Geoff it’s still tied up there if you want directions. Or you can come next time we go.

The police or coast guard never bother you there?

Not yet… Knock on wood. Does the coast guard even go back in there?

I’ve only been that far up by boat twice, and one of those times I ran into a coast guard boat. I couldn’t say if that was an unlike encounter or if they’re up there a lot.

I’m not even 100% sure how much of it is no wake. I know quite a few spots are marked but in the spots that weren’t I took a chance and got the boat up on plane.

I saw someone towing a tube through there the other day. Haha. How far back can you go on a boat?

Dumb question but is it on the Buffalo River or the Ship Canal? I can’t immediately tell from the map posted. If it’s on the Buffalo River you can probably take a small boat pretty far up. From what my family has told me there used to be commercial shipping all the way up the Buffalo River near where it goes under Seneca Street near Bailey. That was back in the day though.

I’ve been a little bit further than that on a jetski. We turned around right near the S. Ogden bridge, nearing the thruway.

I turned around just before the South Park Ave bridge. I’m not sure how much farther you could go.

About 55 feet to the water… I can’t imagine doing double that like the guy in that vid… FUCK.

Closest town is Altmar.

Behind the Broadway dump there’s an old railroad bridge you can jump off of into cayuga creek. Its about a 40ft drop or so. You can park at the end of old farm rd. off of rowley thats off of borden.

I’ve done a ton of low spots ~20 ft that you have posted already. I’ve done the part of the sunset bridge where dirtyE30 did (pretty high, and the water is nasty as hell). The only thing I have found and jumped at that was higher was a cliff in the adirondacks. It was substantially higher (sure as hell looked like it from up top at least). I was told from frequent jumpers it was 78’, but I swear it felt/looked like 100. I only did it once even though others were sessioning the damn thing and I only jumped because the climb up was the sketchiest shit ever. I honestly didn’t want to jump but felt it was 10x safer than trying to climb down.
side note: to those you talking about shallow water depths, on a 60’ jump you’ll barely hit 12’ or so. You don’t really need that deep of water to do it.

Most people overestimate the jump heights… someone told me akron falls was 55 feet. Measured out at 41. LOL

Not sure how tall but it was fun, I wanted to jump off the right side but was worried i would over shoot it and go out to far.
