"think outside of the box" and other horrible office stuff

The standard reply we get from corp. when asking for assitance when something goes wrong is “it’s a known issue” , “yeah no shit, I just told you”

X…

or lets “regroup”, i hear that one a lot.

“Lets take this offline so we can get through the meeting.” <- I actually like hearing that.

‘Guy that came out and worked up the quote’
President

Let’s “punch it in” guys!

My boss uses more office jargon that anyone I’ve ever worked with. Here are a few gems…

“Don’t get wrapped around the axle on this project”. What he means is, “don’t spend too much time on this low priority job”.
“Why don’t we deep dive this project”. What he means is, “let’s spend a lot of time on this project because someone is watching”.
“We need to put more intellectual horsepower into this project”. What he means is, “let’s get the smarter people in the group working on it”.

Sometimes I’ll ask, which job is of a higher priority? He’ll answer with “Both are important, just allocate the resources accordingly and use your technical lead as a guide if you’re in a time crunch”. What he means is, “I don’t know, do both, get help if you’re stuck”.
I’ve submitted purchase requests for large dollar items and get a question in the form of an email stating “Is this purchase fiscally responsible for our group to be making?”. Which means, “Do we really need this?”.

He’ll often refer to individuals in the plural sense when talking about who at our facility is a good role model for something specific. E.g. “Take a look at the Joe Blows and the Mike Hunts of the world” (fake names obviously).

Complimentary Workship for Recent U.S. Graduates

lol

My owner calls us the " Decksperts" and refers to the carpet mats in the stores as the company jewels.

“Ya gotta do the gumshoe work…”

“Let’s not make a career out of it.”

Ha, I literally busted out laughing and 3 people looked over at me…

A+ thread.

You’ve gotta take the good with the bad.
