Thinking about getting a bike...

Well, last night I had the opportunity to take my buddy’s Yamaha WR450 out for a little rip. All I can say is i’m hooked. I’ve always loved riding dirtbikes and quads, but now that i’ve had a car I have kind of gotten away from them. One quick blast on his bike got me hooked again. I was thinking of getting a street bike, but I will probably end up killing myself on one. They also (obviously) can’t go off road, which is lame. I also find them to be rather uncomfortable. I’d be using the bike mostly for riding to work, quick trips around town, and off road of course. I found this bike on craigslist:

Now I would have to buy the Baja Kit for it to make it street legal, but still that is one hell of a deal. KBB lists it as 4065. I emailed the guy and he said the bike is in mint condition and runs great, but he doesn’t know the miles on it since he isn’t at home. So I will have to wait and see on the mileage. He said it’s been used for 1 season of riding (last summer) and only once or twice this season.

Anyone know a thing or two about bikes? Good deal or no? Any input is apprecitated.

I know a thing or two :ninja

I suggest a super motard or a regular on/off for your application.

You wouldn’t go crazy and kill yourself, but you could have fun on both street and dirt on one bike (on/off)

I agree with Vlad. Supermoto bikes are the shit. Suzuki/Kawasaki makes a drz400 supermoto version with street tires and whatnot and KTM also makes great road bikes. On off road bikes are cool but not too usefull off road. They work for easier trails but are heavy and not as nimble as a straight dirtbike. BTW Im considering selling my 08 rmz 250 if you might be interested. Its a straight up motocross bike but is awesome for trail riding too.

I’d be using it more on road than off. If I take it off road it would just be casual trail riding, nothing too serious.

I rode Brian’s WR this weekend and i must admit it was fun. Felt a little less powerful then my CRF450R Dirtbike to be honest. But owning a 600RR and an R6, Id much rather be on a 600 or 1000

well supermoto is a good choice for you

Yeah id say supermoto would be the way to go too. You couldnt do much trail riding with it unless you got a set of dirt tires for it too.

Kinda got mixed feelings about a street bike now. Just randomly looking at stuff I found this

Here we go

here we gone, he already posted LOL

qft lol

I’ve seen way too many SS 600’s go down this year because of riders mistake of one form or another.

The less risks you take the better your odds are.

Get a supermoto bike. There much more nimble and since you’ve ridden dirtbikes you’ll feel right at home

get whatever you like minus a liter bike, just dont be stupid

I’m not saying anything this time! :ssh

I agree with the buy an older bike to learn on idea. I’d rather learn how to ride a slower bike fast, than be scared shitless and ride a fast bike slow.
