I’ve got a project car. AE86 with a whopping 70hp and an auto tranny (all wangan monsters have auto). It was bought to convert to manual and some kind of 2.0 liter turbo(Read 4g63 or SR).
The frame and body are in excellent condition given that it’s a 19 year old car.
In light of recent developments in my auto-psyche, I’m considering doing one of the following things,
1)find an 1st gen RX7 and put a 2.3 liter Ford turbo in it. SVO’s run 10’s all the time with this engine, RX7 should be faster yet.
2) find FC and put 302 H.O. in it.
3) FC with VG30et (with all kinds of tricks)
Leaning towards number 3, but something/someone (
 ) keeps pulling me towards number 2.
He can pull any of those off. That’s what these “hacks” do.
As we’ve discussed Rob, the Hachi is a no go. Unless you want to rebuild the whole car up from the gorund…the chassis won’t take the monster HP that you want and can build. No fun at all. Pussyfooting around every bend is boring.
You cannot cheap out on tires, or suspension with this route and knowing you, it’ll be a an all out MUST HAVE MORE HORSEPOWER, relegating chassis to second place all the time.
Go with the FC and stop wasting your time with that junk Hachi Go.
i happen to have a nice warm sport in my heart for 1st gen rx-7s…SA FB whatever you wanna call it.
what do you want to do with the car?? just all out drag or what?
the all motor RWD class of NHRA import series was (probably still is) being dominated by a pissed off 13b…but that has no idle or streetability of course.
ive driven a locals EMOD autox special (68 midget) with a NA 13b lightened rotors and a mild streetport…fun car and fast around the cones…but not fast in a straight line.
if your going for drag any of those will work but FC with a 302 will be the easiest/cheapest to do and maintain. All can be great handling cars too with work…just depends on how you do it.
He’s a mooching villain that concocts the strangest ideas known to man about autombiles and almost killed me in a Sidekick tonight. (he actually wants to turbo it too  )
He never had any. He thinks of more ideas about cars than a whole nation of Jap car designers. His direction is breaking MY stuff.
