I think the reason is that those cars are awesome, light analog cars that are in the sweet spot for men who can finally afford to buy what they couldn’t in their teens / twenties whereas muscle cars suck at everything other than having their picture taken and are desired largley by people who need to update their wills on a regular basis
I don’t think @bing and @cretinx have met… knowing them both in real life this would be an interesting friendship that would mostly involved world domination plots and possibly the means to give it a good old try.

Well, yes - I think E30s and air cooled 911s are “fun” to drive, but they’re not actually very good cars.
