Unfortunately though, the truth is Z31s are very competitive against 944s, and…as SCCA events from the 80s proved, it was a superior car to it. But you’re right, a pile of shit is a car that takes ~$400 worth of oil changes per year as its maintenance, rather than one that takes 2-5k for oil changes, oil cooler seals, sensors, etc, as its maintenance.
The Z car has always been cool and a decent platform, but try not to exaggerate its accomplishments. Any race form was not something you could buy out of the showroom, so your stock argument is invalid.
And comparing cars from 20 years ago is pretty moot. The 370 is beyond the Z31 in terms of engineering and design, but it has to be held accountable for far more in regulations then the old Z. There is also far more competition for the newer car, so of course its accomplishments will be less.
Back to the original car, did the turbo models have LSDs? I’m pretty sure the NAs didn’t.

How did a thread about 944s turn into a debate about z31s? Granted, I’ve never driven or owned a 944 so I can’t say how they compare to a z31, but the z31 is not as shitty of a platform as most
people make it out to be. Sadly theres barely any awesome z31s since most of the people that own them are poor and suck. Btw this isn’t aimed at you z31na2t, since for all I know you might be

i’ve never looked at a person driving a car and thought they were rich (exclusions being lambos, ferraris, bugattis). I just chalk it up to them having a higher car payment then me. If you make $50,000 a year, technically you can afford a $2,000 car payment.
