Ticket question

I got a few tix last week in tonawanda, just looking for some advice…
I got tix for driving with a susp license, 47 in a 35, and exp insurance card.

now, for the susp license, it was just because I owed the City of Buffalo some cash, which I took care of immediately after i received the ticket. I assume that if I bring the receipt showing my promptness in taking care of it, and an abstract of my lic. showing its clean now, they may reduce it to a non-misdemeanor.

Also, for the expired insurance card, I had a new one, but Im a moron and forgot to put it in the car. So the officer who pulled me over said if I bring the valid ins card, theyll dismiss it.

Finally, for the 47/35, im assuming theyll reduce it to parking tickets. Im not concerned about money on this one, just points.

So, my question is, would it be worth my while to get a lawyer? I believe if im convicted of the Misdemeanor, i can possibly loose my license.

edit: I should throw a  to the cop who pulled me over, he was super-nice, didnt arrest me or impound my car when he easily could have, to a good cop

just dont go to court… thats what ive been doing.

i didnt go monday…and definitly should call or something…

^thats a great [temporary] solution (newman)

you most likely woulndt lose your liscencse- but will most likely get the points for the suspended liscencse

the insurance thing willbe dropped my gf just did the same thing

and the speeding should be reduced bc they will go after the sus. lisencse ticket

you are in the same boat I was last year. But I got arrested. So I had to pay bail.

I brought in the receipt of payment of fine (from Cheektowaga).
I brought in my valid insurance card, which has to display coverage for the time the ticket was issued.
I also pleaded that I was unfamiliar with the area, and that I am a country boy…

does driving w/ a susp lic carry points?

I picked up 6 from my BS ticket in buffalo

u will prolly get a hefty fine…but it is possible tha tu could lose it…i dont think it carries points it not a moving viloation

Not a moving violation, its a misdemeanor, which is gonna be a fine, could be jail time but thats not gonna happen. They may drop that down to parking tix as well, and youll be paying out of your butt. Likely you arent going to lose your license, especially since your a student have job(s) etc

you will get points i know on your insurance

so, would it be beneficial to get a lawyer?

get the lawyer. i got the suspended one(even though it wasnt at the time) along with 6 other tickets(3 different tint, 1 exhaust, 1 not having proof of insurance, 1 not having proof of registration) in my eclipse and although i paid a lot to my laywer, all i got ticket wise was a tint ticket

yea in this case a lawyer would be worth the money, imho

good advice then you’ll have company in jail!

I got a 48/35 in January. That’s worth 4 points plus about $120 in Ton. If that was your only ticket, it would be easy to get reduced, but you have other tickets and the Judge might not be so lenient. A lawyer is definitely worth it.

Does the court have to provide me with one?

Kinda. Its up to them if you get one or not.

Don’t waste your money… lawyers are for lazy bastards.

yeah seriously. Ill jost go and cry

no really though… I’ve already been in your position, thats why there is a prosecutor that sees everyone… he tells you what you can do.

Take the parking tickets, prove that your license is clean, and that you had insurance.

Fin.

i dunno, i drove for a month on an expired licence, my inspection was due in july, bald tires, bad exhast…yeah…i like never get pulled over…only part of my life where i got good luck, and when i do, i always get out of the tickets.
