Time Warner Cable may blackout MSG

The only two things I don’t like about FIOS. #1 Box rental for every television. I have two TV’s on cable that don’t have a box, and I’m plenty happy to have 78 or whatever channels in my bedroom. I rent one box from TWC for the HD. #2 No Canadian channels, I personally like to watch some of the hockey games out of Canada, including Hockey Night in Canada.

Love hockey night in Canada. Fortunately my brother pays for center ice, so I see most of them.

Doesn’t NHL network show hockey night in canada?

I really hope they don’t drop MSG because if they do I will be stuck working 6 days weeks for months.

Ted Black (Sabres team president) doesn’t think the deal is going to get done.

“In terms of dictating whether a deal gets done, no we don’t…and based on a three o’clock conference call yesterday, I’m not feeling real good that this is going to get done,” Black told Simon.

TPTV…the new Empire Sports

I’m inclined to agree based on things I see happening lol

He might want to concentrate on building a winning team before building a TV network.

It’s really out of his hands anyway, but people see Sabres and figure Ted Black has something to do with it.

dude, you live in holland, right? negs on the fios for the next 20 years…

lol yea

They’re done rolling out Fios to new areas its costing them way to much money and if you live anywhere far out like holland better wait another 30 years lol

I get asked “when are we getting fios out here?” almost daily. They could mean east aurora, but they could also mean cowlesville, strykerville, holland, colden, west falls, etc, etc.

I have started responding with “Never.” Sorry, you chose to “live out in the country”, deal with it.

negative on the holland residence. I bought a house in West Seneca. I have actually thought about switching to Fios more since Xbox teamed up with them and they rolled out Fios TV on Xbox. Has anyone used this yet? I would like to know how it is.

oh. well now. #assuming

i have fios for internet, its not the end-all-be-all i was hoping for.

how about me getting fucking FIOS in Cheektowaga. So annoying that streets 5 blocks away on either side have it and I don’t. /rant

Time warner was holding out on the fast internet speeds until someone came along and pushed them to release it. Its funny how they come up with “wideband” on their same old cable network as soon as FIOS rolls into town. Heck, I’m getting a 25MB/s package on time warner right now. Very similar to what FIOS is offering.

It’s not funny its business

TWC had to upgrade all their CMTS’s so they could do DOCSIS 3 to get the increased upstream/downstream speeds.

They were planning to upgrade all of them across the country they just picked the markets that had competition first.

This is why Buffalo got it before Rochester since there are no real competitors for high speed in that market the only other option is DSL…but now Rochester also has DOCSIS 3.

The difference between TWC and FiOS is you get more upstream currently with FIOS however we have been testing 10-15 up with no issues in the Buffalo market. D3 can do higher upstreams its just a matter of how many upstream frequencies you want to bond which is limited based on cable plant design.

Also with the “same old cable network” really isn’t true TWC uses fiber from the head ends to nodes and that last little section from the nodes to homes happens to be coax…Fios is great however verizon has been losing their ass installing it if you live in the city I wouldn’t plan on ever getting it because if they enter the city they have to wire the entire city which would never make the money back.

I have the 35/35 FIOS with TV and home phone…it IS the be all end all. Actually somewhere around 43 down, 38 up on most speed tests, <20 ping, and it’s never gone out in the 18 months I’ve had it.

So for those who have FIOS, give me the run down. I have 5 tv’s, 2 of which need DVR and the rest just need basic cable tv. What are my options with FIOS, do they require a box for every TV?
