Time Warner Cable is currently involved in a rate dispute with the MSG Network, which has the rights to air the majority of Sabres games. If an agreement is not reached between the two companies by January 1st, Time Warner will not be able to broadcast MSG to their customers.
I’d say this will never happen in WNY but TWC is the same company that let CBS get dropped during the Bill’s regular season.
I was shocked TWC had the balls to drop “the Bills channel” during the NFL regular season. If they were willing to do that don’t think for a second MSG is “must have”.
I agree with some comments, but I’m glad some of these providers are not rolling over and paying whatever is asked up front. I think we ALL would be paying a good chunk more if they all did this.
Ch 4 is a fucking garbage channel, would loved to see them take a shit.
Every provider goes through this shit, funny to see it posted when it’s TW.
This is true, every provider has their issues/contract disputes with channels.
It’s a big pissing match.
However I do agree too that providers should not just roll over and pay whatever the channel wants.
We have DirecTV and over the 4 yrs that we have had it, the bill has stayed constant as have the channels.
MSG’s owners, the Dolans/Cablevision, are particularly cunty. Took lawsuits and appeals out the ass just to get the HD feed on verizon starting this week, and they’re still playing hardball with Dish.
Sabres shouldn’t be on MSG period. MSG doesn’t really care about the Buffalo market. New York City teams get preferential treatment. It’s pretty obvious when they dump the Sabres intermission show and give us New Jerseys from time to time.
I’m still hoping Pegula at some point starts a network just for the Sabres. He can own the rights to the broadcast and deal with the providers directly. Kinda like Empire sports all over again. It’s wishful thinking, but would be great for the Sabres and the fans.
Does anyone think MSG is right asking a 53% increase? Forcing all customers, whether they watch msg or not to pay? I don’t think most people outside NY give a fuck about it.
