Tire Question - Going to a smaller width

Trying to find snow tires for the ML is $$$$$ as the stock size are 295 40 20

275 40 20 seem to be a much better value.

I know it may throw off the speedo, but what other “risks” are involved for 4 months?

Won’t throw off the speedo by much. Going narrower shouldn’t create any issues. What the hell are you buying snow tires for?

narrower is better in snow anyways as you cut through the snow instead of float on top

For the amg

I meant you could probably run bald tires this season with no problem.

Ahhhh

Well i would rather run snows just in case rather than z rates in the snow

Get the 275’s. At 60mph you’re only talking about a 1.29mph difference on the speedometer. The narrower tire will be better in the snow too, not that a 275/40/20 is going to be that narrow.

No issue at all. I would suggest it over the 295’s for winter.

Does the wheel width fit in the suggested range for the 275s? For example TireRack suggest between 9-11" for the fantastic Winter Carving.

But if your talking about that Chinese made tire, I wouldn’t personally recommend them even if they were the correct size for your application.

My absolutely biased answer would be 275/45 Eurowinters, (it looks like the suggested range slips down to 8.5-10.5 though)

Picked up the 1 season 275 40 20s blizzaks for $300 local
