Top Gear USA coming to The History Channel

I am sorry, I gave it two tries. Every comment seems like it is forced, the challenges are lame as fuck.

It is getting better. The challenge in the next episode should be worth watching.

I thought the blind guy idea was pretty good to watch. Not sure if they ever did that on Top Gear UK?

+1 almost every BBC Topgear on Time Warner on demand seems to be boring.

I haven’t watched the episode yet so I don’t know what you’re referring to, but Top Gear UK had a blind man drive around their test track once.

agreed that the first episode was a complete miss but the second one got a bit better…i think in time these guys will be decent or we will just grow to like them … mostly because its in the states and a point made earlier that the cars they are going to be testing are gonna be more relevant to us rather then tvr’s which we will never see in north america… and hopefully they do more drifting specials lol… cheap car challenge…someone better buy a s13 lol

Billy Baxter:

TG USA Episode 2 was better. Some cringe-worthy moments in it, still. Next episode should be pretty funny, though.

Can anyone validate this? Jalopnik makes it sound like Clarkson reviews each show. If that’s true, then this does have potential:

… If there’s one overwhelming concept to understand about the U.S. version of Top Gear it’s not that Jeremy Clarkson and wünderproducer Andy Wilman review the footage, or that a Brit with a biting sense of humor helms the production. It has nothing to do with a crew experienced working on episodes of the original Top Gear or, after exhaustive questioning, that it turns out the occasionally pink tuxedoed Rutledge Wood is a car guy of amusingly diverse tastes…

Last night’s was a bit better.

I actually had several moments where I enjoyed this episode… not too shabby.

I had to turn the first one off, but I’ll give it another shot in a few episodes.

Have they said a single bad thing about any car yet? So far, the only thing I’ve learned is that The Viper, every lambo, v12 vantage, evo x are all amazing cars. I’ve also learned that the v12 vantage is faster than the v8 vantage…

I’ve also learned that obviously these exotic manufacturers don’t trust the hosts since they have only driven thes expensive cars on air strips and an old lake bed.

I just feel as if they’re lacking any significant review of how these cars handle. There HAS to be negative aspects. Even if the only thing negative is that you look like a douche driving it.

Still thought Sunday’s episode was terrible. There is no witty banter between the hosts and they aren’t funny at all. Everything seems so scripted and dry. And boardjnky4 is right, they don’t have any useful comments regarding any of the cars. Yeah, the production is great and it’s nice to see/hear the cars, but the hosts and the segments that they chose to do are horrible. This is no where near as entertaining as the UK version.

Even though the commentary makes it painful to watch at times, I do enjoy some of the content. I liked the race around the dirt track. You have the give the one host some props for launching that caddy off the dirt ramp. It also looked like he was in danger of flipping the thing on another spot on the track. If that thing flipped I doubt the roof would support the weight of that car. He also almost excuted the J turn too in the beast in the other challenge which has to be near impossible.

The bearded guy is such a pussy and a bad driver. I dont think its an act either, he just sucks. Who ever casted this show should be shot.

Last night’s episode was decent. There were a few points where I genuinely laughed. Tanner Foust has all the character of a pegboard.

does anyone have a link for the 3rd episode? i cant find it anywhere :S

they have the newest episode up for the week.

thanks buddy

I thougth the challenge was pretty decent. I totally would love to participate in something like that, like a NYSpeed challenge, that the mods make the challenges after we buy the cars. It seemed like they were actually drinking some of that moonshine around the campfire, I’ll give them some props for that, and and all the stunts were pretty good. The hosts need some work, but them drinking together makes it a little better.

X…

The hosts were way better in this episode than the first 2; this episode seemed less scripted. Though they definitely still need some work.

Agreed. I actually chuckled a few times.
