top mount divided dual wastegate t4 manifold for code blue

very nice!!! :wow

clean welds, and nice placement!

you want the heat to go on the turbine housing, that how turbos work. Heat is energy for the turbine so they will also make the turbo spool and respond quicker. I like to see this facts about this.

Read my post again…ceramic coating keeps the heat in the exhaust stream, the exhaust stream that imparts in energy to the buckets of the turbine. You do not want the heat going into/“onto” the turbine housing, you want the heat going to the turbine itself. Ceramic coating does that, reduces under hood temps, and saves your turbo CHRA from excessive heat at the same time. Pages of facts about this are spread over the internet, no need for me to post them here when a simple google search suffices. Fiberglass wrap and blankets retain the heat that’s emmited and released from the turbine housing, which is bad for metal and causes thermal heat transfer into the CHRA(which is bad as well). Basic metallurgy and turbocharger function there. Again, pages of facts on this over the net that another google search will suffice. No need for it in this thread.

Must agree. I have read that numerous times from credible sites… not Wikipedia

For all out racing purposes tho… how much will be gained or lossed when the car wont be on the track for more than 10 seconds at the most. I would definately protect the underside of the hood with some heat mat to keep the paint from turning colors and flaking if it is going to be street driven.

Well yes…you must take my business into consideration when reading my posts as I build track/circuit cars rather than drag cars so my answers typically will follow that suit.

If the car is a drag car that’s run and shut down after each pass typically you won’t get enough continuous heat soak into the CHRA to warrant much excessive long term damage and a blanket may be “ok”. However if the car is going to be street driven for long periods or tracked(I’m talking race course here) ceramic coating is the way to go. Getting a new/unsed turbine housing coated from a company like Swain or Jethot can be done for less than $100 easy. If someone wants to drop a turbine housing or manifold off at my machine shop I’ll prep it(clean and blast it) to be coated, no charge. New parts only, not gonna be prepping rusted used crap

fale

but yes, I have been looking to get the turbo coated. just trying to find a siiiiiiiick color.

was thinking pink…or baby blue…

Both! Blue turbine and pink compressor ;D Seriously though, let me know if you do go that route and need the housings prepped. I’ll do it at the shop for ya, no cost, just need a day or so notice.

swain is by far the best coating, I could even drop it off for you and save you some shipping.

Only thing is that it only comes in white and you would need to paint it with hightemp spray.

Swain = pure ceramic. Only company that does that and far superior to all other coatings. I forgot you pass them on the way out to school

some more fab work on jasons car.
