That older red jag, Singh’s brother IRC? I did the hood, both bumpers and a grill shell for $600
Yes, that hood sucked and I will admit it wasnt my best work.
- Hood was green to start, and needed body work on the leading edge.
- Bumper front and rear needed body work.
- He didnt want to blend panels, just shoot the hood and bumpers
- fenders were faded, so the chance of matching vs a newly sprayed hood are slim to none.
- I shot it twice becasue the first time I wasnt happy with the color, I assumed the cost on the first one for more paint and my time to try to get better results.
- I got a run in the clear on the drivers side leading edge where the curve of the headlight line is that I buffed out the best I could, without risking burning through and having to reclear the entire hood.
- had some orange peel on one edge, again buffed as much as I could without risking burning through.
- offered to re-buff the hood on the spot and walk that fine line of burnthrough on the spot. He declined, I then offered bring it back when the paint has cured more, so I can cut/buff it again with less risk, he declined.
- I painted the underside for him
- bumpers came out just fine, no issues with them.
- also painted a grille shell that was in rough shape to start, and IRC there were broken tabs when I got it or something that Singh said he would take care of on the reinstall.
Lastly, I only charged him $600 for the entire job, and I took $100 IRC off upon delivery(so $500 total) becasue of the flaws in the hood I wasnt happy about myself. Dont quote me on the price, as this was months ago, but Singh or you if you know can chime in and correct me if I am wrong.
$150+ in materials, leaves me with 8 hours time to complete the job. R&R on the hood and bumpers alone is 3 hours time, 2.5 hrs paint on hood, +.75 for underside, 1.75 for front bumper, 1.75 for rear bumper, less body work time.
A replacement hood + underside, re-spray both bumpers and grille shell should be a $1200 job panel painted at a normal body shop.

I am not out to bend anyone over, when i make mistakes I have no problem admitting them, and resolving them for the customer.
