Tough Mudder (Wounded Warrior Fund Raiser)

Had fun, wasn’t hard at the pace we went.

Oh then stayed in a cabin with some of my best friends, had steaks, rode 4 wheelers, shot guns, and drank beer. Golfed with my dad, then met up with Spam and powdercoated stuff for one of my summer cars. Oh and can’t forget hanging with friends and wife at my house after all of that to finish off a great weekend.

But if boating is your idea of a good time… Have at it!

Spam is the man

Glad you guys had fun

Might be interested in this next year if it comes. Need to train and not be so fat and lazy. NYSpeed team?

Count me in.

EDIT: There’s one in Toronto in about two months, who’s in for that one?!?!?!?!

did anyone else hate the fuck out of the two electric wires obstacles?

the final one at the end, i took a wire to the neck and ate shit hard

They definitely sucked, but i think the arctic enema may have been worse for me at least. Both calves instantly cramped up…major suckage right there lol.

Bump.

Did it last year in 4 1/2 hours. They changed the course from the day before so it was actually just over 12 miles. I was completely out of shape. It rained the night before so going down the hills was rough trying not to fall. Going back up is what got me the most, it killed my legs. The arctic enema wasn’t that bad at first till I climbed out at the end, that’s when it hit me. Electric wires at the end took me down 3 times. My brother said the 3rd time my eyes rolled back and my body just went limp. Seemed like it took a few second to realize where I was. It was one of the worse and best experiences of my life. My sister in-laws brother was a marine and just got back from survival training school. We finished and he was still good to go. We held him up the whole time.

I will not be attending the bro mudder this year.

well then she shouldn’t give her money to the Wounded Warrior Project, because only 57.9% of all the money they take in is actually spent on programs and services for Veterans.

Eh. So 57.9% of her money goes straight to those in need and 42.1% goes to making more money for those in need.

If keeping more of the money lets them grow the whole operation, and thus the bottom line, bigger then they’re doing it right. It doesn’t really make sense to judge a non-profit by its margin when it’s the bottom line that makes the difference. You’re not trying to produce a return for your investors you’re trying to produce as much “profit” as possible. I mean fuck: Figure $150 per person x 10,000 people x 0.579 = $870,000 raised by this one event. If you can think of a cheaper way to raise almost a million dollars then get at it. I’m actually impressed that they can run something this big and still donate over half the proceeds.

Anyhow, I had a ton of fun last year. I’ll be there Saturday this year.

In the 2PM heat on Saturday, though we’ll probably jump up to an earlier one given the chance. I was told they don’t really check that closely for when your heat is.

And from what I’ve heard about how shitty some non profits are as far as % of funds actually going to the cause in question, 57.9% sounds pretty good. http://www.tampabay.com/americas-worst-charities/

Though Fry, that’s the percentage that the wounded warrior foundation donates of the money they receive, since the mudder has to take out the money to fund the actual events before it donates to the wounded warrior foundation, it could be an even smaller percentage of your ticket that goes to the foundation. That being said I agree; it’s all about total dollars raised, not percentages.
