Towing project car from Maine to Buffalo

What they’re doing is using a dual wishbone knuckle with a mcpherson strut with those adapters. This looks like a sketchy fuckign build man, and wiring this isn’t going to be that easy. I didn’t read the thread, but does the car use the attessa system? Because that’s going to be a fucking nightmare. A spool at the center dif is probably your best bet, because the attessa system uses a hydraulic pump mounted on the rear pumpkin.

:fry: (no really… snap!)

wow. I’d be hesitant of that.

Knowing very little about this, that looks sketchy as fuck.

I’ll PM you the build thread. This is all just an idea for me at this point because my mustang is worth nothing and has generated no interest. I really don’t feel like letting it go for less than $1500, but I also don’t want to look at it anymore. The idea of a 4WD 240 doesn’t interest me nearly enough to actively pursue it, but I’m presented with a decent deal, and my brother is super interested, and I actually owe him some favors so this would have probably become his car.

I got a little defensive in my second post because I will definitely not make a stupid move buying this car without doing my hw. If anything I was wishful thinking and premature planning. I will admit that I am only starting to do my hw and am leaning towards NOT getting this car.

I’ve spent most of my time putting together dsms; I’m pretty new to Nissans. This car does use those adapters and that is my #1 concern. Actually my only real concern, besides getting it here. I’ve heard of people welding the skyline strut towers into the 240, which seems like a better plan for sure. My worries with the adapters is that the geometry will be off and the car will never sit low enough. There is a car or two out there running around with these adapters, and while they sit high, I don’t think they’ve had any other problems.

I wouldn’t try to run the ATTESSA system, but probably copy what others have done to control it. I haven’t looked into this enough yet, but its not a huge issue, and would have been sorted out when the car was up and running rwd.

I understand that the 4WD rb20 block is different than the RWD rb20 block, but could a RWD tranny be bolted up and the suspension swapped back? I’m guessing the only way to run this particular engine is with this subframe/suspension setup, and the standard rb20 swap(s13 subframe, r32 crossmembers & mounts) would not work. Again, I would never get this car without knowing the answer to these kinds of questions, I still have a lot to learn here.

I’m 95% not getting this car, but its definitely and interesting topic for me, as I had never really heard of people trying to do it until now. I agree that this is too ghetto. I got the mustang as a trade purely because I thought I could sell it for significantly more than the car I traded. Both were POS’ that I want to forget about and picking this up would probably just continue the cycle. No one will trade anything cool for a v6 mustang! I mean, it just doesn’t make any logical sense unless you’re desperate for a DD, as was the case here.

And as far as towing goes, yes the rental was only $260 with no other fees attached, with a trailer, all 4 wheels off the ground, probably would have went smoothly.

For some reason I can’t imagine those welds holding up for too long.

I saw this car on a 240 forum somewhere. I would not want to drive it with those welds. If i were you i would just get a rwd 240 with a swap and leave it at that.

dont pm the build thread, I wanna see it and I am sure everyone else does too…

Yeah sure. I thought of those adapters as a temporary solution. Not sure exactly how much work it would take to get the gtr strut towers welded in, but probably would have been beyond my budget.
And if I understand correctly, I couldn’t use that block with a typical RWD swap. I was thinking maybe with an s13 subframe and suspension, and gtst cross members, but I’m not even sure if a rwd tranny bolts up, or if the mounts are in the same location as the rwd rb20.

This is a car with those adapters installed. Maybe the first car to have them.

And this is the car that the guy offered to trade me:

Just one thought, seeing as you are only seeking $1500-2000 for your mustang, do the parts and the car itself add up to over the cost? Has the body of the 240 been molested? if not, you might be able to unbolt and sell the motor/trans/suspension and put the 240 back to it’s RWD state and drop another motor/trans into it.

it seems like there are better alternatives for that spindle part

that shell appears to be clean as hell and would be worth $1500 as a stock roller if you decide to part it out as suggested. IF you do get this expect to take it all apart and triple check everything.

 for manning up and admitting it. As for the six-banger pony, there’s all types of retrofit kits to make the 3.8L supercharger (Eaton M90) work on the base Mustang. Or, V8 swap, common and proven. Failling that, clean it up and sell in the spring to a 20-something college student.

If you wanna throw a 302 in your stang I got ALOT of what you need.

I don’t get it

There was a guy who had a twin turbo v6 mustang, street legal, running 9s on pump gas i believe…

Here is what stands out in my mind like a period on white panties.

If this car is so great, why the fuck is he willing to trade it for a V6 Mustang??? Isn’t an RB26 or whatever that motor is called worth more then an entire V6 Mustang???

That’s what I’m thinking- I would trade it for that alone.

This is exactly why I decided not to do it. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. Although in this case he claimed that he was completely out of money and that he didn’t want to get rid of the car, but wanted to make it a DD but didn’t have the money to finish it. The body is pretty good but not completely rust-free and needs paint. I liked that its an SE with the HUD though. Not really worth spending $550 to tow when I could probably find one locally that’s just as clean for the same price. And as far as the RB26 being worth so much, its an RB20, and I’m not sure if this particular version is worth anything here in the US since it doesn’t really fit anything besides a 4WD skyline.

Its actually an rb20 in this case. Either way this whole conversion looks sketchy as hell which is probably why he’s trying to get rid of it so badly.
