TRADE FOR S13: 1988 Porsche 944

hello all,

EDIT SEPTEMBER 14TH i’m about to get my demo (i work at a dealership) in less than a month, and would be taking this thing off the road for the winter soon anyways. so i am now very interested in selling this car for cash as well. i will still accept trades if it’s the right car.

price is $3500.

just seein if there’s anyone out there who’s interested. i am looking to get back into the world of S-Chassis. i love my 944 but Nissans are my true love and i have been out of them for years. this is my only reason for wanting to trade/sell.

please read the ad carefully before sending offers as i am very particular about what i will accept.

at this time i do not have cash to put on top of my trade so don’t offer me cars worth way more than mine. i will accept cheaper cars plus cash on your end provided the vehicle meets my standards.

in terms of a trade, i am interested in anything japanese, rear-wheel-drive, and 5-speed. if the car you want to offer does NOT fall under ALL of these 3 parameters, do NOT even bother offering. S13’s, MkIII Supra’s, FC’s, Z31’s, AE86’s etc.

body must be as clean as possible. no rusty frames, no holes in body (surface rust is okay as long as it’s minor, nothing cancerous and nothing that would affect a safety), preferably no crazy-high mileage unless the car is clean, no accidents, preferably no RHD (just because of insurance) and no project cars. the car MUST be running and driveable, also easily certifiable/e-testable so that i can have it on the road as soon as possible after the trade happens, and MUST be suitable for daily driving. no crazy ghetto-rigged junkyard KA-T set-ups or anything that i’m going to have to worry about blowing up on me. i reserve the right to be able to get the car thoroughly inspected by a certified mechanic before accepting the trade.

basic details about the 944:

-1988 base model. '88 was the lowest production year for base models (5500 vs 11-12 thousand every other model year). 163hp vs. the 147hp of the earlier 2.5 SOHC’s. also has the nicer updated interior.
-many publications claim the 944 as one of the best handling production cars ever made. perfect 50/50 weight distribution and handles like a go-kart.
-burgundy exterior with white leather, white carpet. rest of interior is burgundy/black. black “PORSCHE” floor-mats.
-American car originally from Pennsylvania.
-has not seen a winter since it came to canada. that’s as far back as i can tell you.
-not a spot of rust, no accidents
-132,XXX MILES as of september 14th and rising daily (still driving it)
-does NOT leak any fluids (which is a common 944 problem)
-synthetic oil changes every 2750miles
-only 91+ octane
-never drifted, raced, tracked, or abused.
-5-speed
-lift-out “targa” sunroof with power vent function (3/4 of the roof lifts out)
-A/C (needs to be filled with 12A)
-power seats, mirrors, and windows

other details:
-A/C compressor replaced in May. needs 12A charge.
-fuel pump replaced over winter (gasket was leaking while parked).
-bought car from my Uncle who did timing belts, clutch, and lots of other maintenance during his 2+ years of ownership. more details can be obtained from him.
-fairly new Bridgestone Potenza G009 215/60R/15 with lots of tread left
-removed stock airbox (notorious for sucking up water) and replaced with cone filter.
-951 (944 turbo) front end conversion (black)
-951 (944 turbo) rear valence/skirt (not installed. also black)
-8mm 5x130 spacers in rear. extra pair included.
-wired for amp and sub (not included)
-Sony Xplod head-unit included.
-aftermarket component speakers all around (not sure of brand but sounds awesome)
-super-rare retro pop-out CD-holder bin kit (under head-unit)
-driver’s seat has large tear in outer bolster. other seats are in fair shape with some age showing (they are white after all)
-white carpet needs minor spot-cleaning.
-no cracks in dashboard
-interior clock is busted (common problem. you won’t find one for less than $50 so i just left it)
-one of the rotors is warped. slight vibration when braking.
-horn button on steering wheel needs to be re-attached properly (came loose and was connecting randomly. i just took out the fuse lol)
-small tear in shift boot
-cruise doesn’t work. haven’t looked into it yet.
-paint fading on roof and hood (just needs a good wax and polish)
-some small paint chips around car
-needs paint eventually to match everything up (black front end on burgundy car)
-fog lights still need to be wired but i can do that before the trade
-driver’s side fog light lens cracked.
-passenger fender on conversion is half bondo and is kinda ugly. it was only supposed to be temporary until i could find a nicer one. not noticeable from a distance. i have contact info for places to purchase a nicer one.
-will include what remaining parts of the N/A front i have left. to date i’ve sold the driver’s fender and headlight cover, and the valence with the fog lights. if you wanted to switch back to the N/A front, you could find the parts needed to complete it for about $350 total. the 951 front end is hard to find and is in high demand amongst 944 owners, so you could easily get at least $1000 for the entire conversion.

car daily drives well and is good on gas. gets anywhere from 330-400 miles to a tank depending on driving conditions. i have been daily driving it since i took it out of storage in late February with no major problems. A/C compressor was only replaced because it was starting to seize. has never left me stranded. recently drove to and from Tobermory with no complaints (4 hours each way). passed a safety in September '09 with no problems. will be sold with a valid e-test. bring your mechanic! this car is honestly way more reliable than the '95 Jetta i was driving before it.

i love this car but i’m itching to get back into Japanese. even in it’s current state, it turns heads everywhere, people are always asking me about it in parking lots, and i even had a guy in a $200,000+ 997 GT2 give me a thumbs-up the other day on the 407.

No offense but 4k Value for a 2 Tone 1988 Porsche non turbo with nasty looking white leather seats?

just saw a clean White 86 with everything working with Full service records for $4500???

I’ve got my 91 FC with a rebuilt T2 motor and meqasquirt hmm decisions decisions if your car had a black interior id be all over it

whoops. i edited the kijiji ad but forgot to change the price on this ad.

either way it’s just a starting point…

if you’re interested, let me know. all you really need is a black carpet and black seats. get rid of the white. the rest would still look good.

bump.

edited original post.

can a mod possibly change the title for me? take out the “trade for S13” part and just put “FS/FT”? thanks.
