Just curious if this is possible…but the gf has 2 iphones…the iphone 4 she uses now and a 3gs she lets her daughter use (3gs no longer has service)
I was wondering if it would be possible to transfer all of her apps/games/music from her iphone 4 to the 3gs…using a comptuer that wasnt the one either phone was/is synced with…
ive never played with iphones/ipod touches so i have no clue if its possible or what software i would want to use.
Thanks for the help.
Syncing the device with iTunes should automatically create a backup, which can then be transferred to any machine running iTunes. Try and make sure you create the backup with the latest version of iTunes, and transfer it to the same or newer version.
I believe the backup file should be located at…
Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Apple Computer\SyncServices\Local
Windows
/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
OS X
You can manually force a backup by connecting the device to a machine running the latest version of iTunes, and right clicking on it in iTunes, and selecting backup.
Note, your music will not be copied with the backup. You can manually transfer the files if you still have them, or copy them from the device with one of the many applications to do so.
The backup will only copy settings/pictures/configs/data/etc, and not the physical applications or media. You can manually copy this to another computer easily, if need be.
You can restore a new iOS device to the backup you made, by right clicking on it in iTunes, and selecting ‘Restore From Backup’.
