Leaving for Europe on the 19th for 2 weeks. Taking my laptop and possibly my DSLR with me. And my phone. Not worried about trip insurance such as cancellation, health, etc. Just my electronics.
Anyone here ever get travel insurance for their electronics? I’ll only be staying with family 4 out of 14 days…the rest will be alone so I can’t lug my stuff around with me. Definitely going to get a safe or what not in my room, but figured I’d rather pay for some insurance (if it’s not too expensive) and have that piece of mind as well.
Ive been to third world countries with my laptop and phone and had no problems, I think you should be ok in Europe unless there is something I am missing here.
I’m going to a sanatorium…I have no idea what kind of ‘door access’ that facility has. Meaning, is it lock and key? Is it badge/card? etc. That’s the place I’m worried about. I’m not worried about the airports, etc.
And no, I wouldn’t get travel insurance in the US. :lol
Still…Europe makes me a bit more skeptical for some reason.
EDIT: I guess I can do a personal articles policy with State Farm for like $30. No brainer. Gonna stop by on Monday.
I’m not worried about my medical though…just my electronics. Since they’ll be in my room (whatever that entails at the place) while I’m meeting with the medical staff for hours per day, etc.
I say get it if you can afford it for accidental damage and most of all theft. I back packed acrossed Europe back in 92 and we would take the night train to save a night of lodging. Depends on where you are going, thief would board the night trains and steal stuff from you cabin while you are sleeping. Most travelers will tie the cabin door shut with a belt to make it difficult to get in.
Will you be getting a Eurail pass? You can get the insurance when you get them.
Nah, I’m flying to Kiev, Ukraine, changing plans and going to Lvov, Ukraine. Then taking the train to Ternopil which is my home city. The Sanatorium is like 20 miles from there.
