My friend Has a truck with a cap and the third light on the cap needs hooked up does anyone know how to do this ???

all you need to do is t-tap into the trucks brake wires (need a DMM to test which wire is hot when the brakes are on) and ground the other wire…
its a 03 ram … the cap has 2 wires a red and black…guessing the black is ground and red is hot …
that would be a good guess
might be like older gm’s and send a ground when the brake is applied as well…
this isnt my truck its a friends so I cant look at it infront of me just tryin to help him out so dodge doesnt rape him for 100 bucks
I don’t know the specifics of Dodge wiring, but more than likely black one is ground, one is hooked into the “running light” circuit, and one is brake light circuit.
You might want to think about using a male/female connector clip near the bed-to-cap interface (like a 4 pin molex connector), so if the cap needs to be taken off you don’t have to splice crap back together and don’t cross the wires up. Radio shack will have a simple connector like that, should not too expensive.
