Well picked this truck up from German with a bowtie(was burnyd’s and yamaha’s).
Today it looked pretty nice out so I figgered I would go out and clean up the inside of the truck(wipe the dash off, clean the carpet). Well I started with this
haha, as you can see, I am a clean freak. The carpet will be comming out and everything will be cleaned(even body metal), degressed and ArmorAlled before it is put back in, o and everything gets cleaned. I like clean cars, lol.
Just figgered I would start this and update it as I go with the truck.

Actully was thinking about boost, but I am not sure how the 22-re will handle it. I had plans for lowering it, shaving somethings new doors, 5spd tranny, turbo, but I dunno. Will probly fix the rust, get new doors, roll pan, lower a few inchs and keep it all shaved and streight. but who knows
Now I am probly picking up my buddys neon CHEAP and I have all the parts to fix the body up for it and I am going to PROBLY be doing a 2.4 turbo swap in it.
eh its a 22re dude… the previous owners broke the timing chain on the car and it blew up so a new motor is in that car… 22res dont blow up lol… there the most reliable motor ever… I would boost that thing in a heart beat… would be really cool!
Hmm, I would have to make my own manifold and such seeing as how they want like $3k or something for a kit. I wouldn’t know what to do about fuel upgrades though, I mean, it looks like it would be some easy shit to do, lots of room and simple. Hmmm, I am a boost nOOb but maybe that could be a cool project. Anyone want to donate? lol, parts? lol :redface: Also, the auto is what is holding me back the most
X2, my brother had a old mid 80 pickup with a 22R and a celica head on it. He got rid of it at 255k and it was still running strong. Once due to a head gasket or something related going bad, the combustion cambers were taking on lots of coolant. To the best of our knowledge, the 22R was just pumping the coolant back out of the engine lol. I always wanted to get one of the turbo 22R motors out of the later trucks, build it up, toss it into a old celica. If you wanna go NA there is a old 22R header here at my house that you can have.
thanks for the info, If I go n/a I would like to get that header, would be nice to have. I dunno though, I am still worried about how much boost would be to much and how much fuel I would need. Also, I would need to find a 5spd tranny and all the parts, do the trannys from celicas work? what year?
lol. yea, I got a do that… lol, like I said, I started just going to “Wipe it down and sweep it out” lol I am wondering how hard the 5spd swap is going to be
Actully that is my next project along with cleaning the engine. I am going out to my moms house to get my body hammers out if the garage
I honestly couldn’t tell you about the trannys, though if you glance around that Toysport page I sent that might be some help. I just remember the more desirable engine parts were from the celica 22R, but the transmission parts from the truck were beefier (like the stock truck clutch was used at a upgrade on the celica). As for the header we apparently just got rid of it a week ago so that kinda sucks. But like I said a 22R is a tough ass engine, I’d boost it :bigthumb:
Hmm, Well, I think I just found a place to get all my body parts (fenders,hood, bumper, valance, tailgate and doors for like $270, lol, used but still. And they also have trannys for $75, not tested, but for $75 thats not bad. Pedal assembly is $12, lol. So what else would I need for a 5 spd swap?
