Nemer Crystler/Dodge, in Queensbury.
is it turnin over and not startin or nothin at all
Turns over like it wants to start, but it wont start.
I would replace cocky with confident. In general he knows as much if not more about Evo’s as the top Evo specific tuner shops, and more specifically he was the one who built this car for me. With the exception of the meth tune and exhaust cam install, which was done by CBRD.
Sady, ya it really sucks. I wish it’d go to someone locally that knew what they were doing, but there just isn’t a big enough market around here for it. There is only 1 other evo in the area that I’ve seen. A yellow 8 that a kid from the Saturn dealership on Quaker owns. Other than that I see a few STi’s on occasion. BoxerSix will get whatever is going on straightened out. I know the day Todd had Paul call me, he was asking if there was a fuel cutoff, because they went to start it and it wouldn’t fire. It didn’t make any sense to me. I’ve had the car over 2 years and never had any issue with it. I asked Paul if he thought it might be possible that someone stripped a part off it, and he said no that none of the techs will even touch it. Remind the guys joyriding in it, that they better keep an eye on the meth tank. If they don’t, it could cost them a blown engine.
Adam, I left you a message, but hadn’t heard back from you. I have the tune from CBRD on my laptop still. I just don’t have a tactrix cable anymore. Let me know if you need it. Obviously Chad still has it on file at CBRD too. Also, let me know what you find. I am really curious as to what the problem is. Oh, and maybe make a little move on the Tru-Boost. It’s still set for the warmer months and tuned for 28psi. It’d probably be pushing 30 psi at the current setting and temps. Talk to ya later.
could be a security problem i had them a lot at mitsu
twas jokin i know adam knows his shit wit them i wish i had it as good as he :nod
Hahah, ahh. ;D
Oh, and Sady, why haven’t I seen you civic there? You have it hidden around back? I saw a couple nice looking SRT-4’s around back when Paul was showing me someone’s lifted black ram, but I didn’t see your civic. Looks clean!
Theres a white EVO 8 running around, w/a full HKS setup. One of my buddies actually. He used to work at Sears up at the Aviation mall. IMO, that yellow EVO 8 at the Saturn dealership sounds like shit. I see him all the time.
Oh, and my Civic dosent have a motor in it. The SOHC wouldnt start one day after changing the oilpan gasket, so I ripped it out, and am working on a B18 swap for it. The build is at a stand-still, b/c Nemer pays shit. Still need a damn tranny. If you happened to see a silver Hyundia Santa Fe, thats my ride for now. Tis teh wifes, but since we both work there, its working out for now.
Oh, and this past Sat, someone called asking if they could buy parts off the EVO. :confused
:lol Yes I am sir! Nah, Chris was just calling everyone in the books trying to locate me the past few days. Apparently I’m a difficult person to locate and highly sought after :lol
I did get your message Mike. Sorry I haven’t called back I’ve just been running around as usual. I doubt it’s anything that Chad did, he’s good people :nod It’s going to be something stupid. I was going to give him a buzz Monday just to find out exactly what his work entailed on the car. If I can find where he/his techs were in the car last, I’ll have a better starting point.
If you want to email me the files that’d be great.
I’ve been told security was “disabled” but we all know that can mean nothing.
flooded it with meth! meth nozzle wasnt seated, car parked nose down a hill and was leaking. meth all in the cylinders. sounds crazy, but ive seen it happen… ghetto snow performance nozzles( kits we were using we SP)
I don’t believe it was anything Chad did as well. He tuned it back in June, and it ran smooth as butter since. I just mentioned that I had it in case it needed to be re-flashed onto the ecu. I am really glad that Nemer was smart about getting it checked and sought someone who knows Evo’s. I have a feeling that your going to find that it was someone messing with something they shouldn’t have been.
Mk4, that’s a good assumption, and certainly possible. However they have had it parked in a level lot outside the garage. Oh, and it’s an AEM meth kit, though it wouldn’t surprise me to find out they sourced their nozzles from the same place as Snow.
i can speak from first hand knowledge of how certain cars are treated when arriving at either nemer , or new country in the past. i am POSITIVE this car was BEATEN within an inch of it life on its “test drive” by certain service personnel. of all the technicians there, aaron would be my #1 choice of who id want to work on it… sourcing adam was probably nemers best possible course of action. chris rogers was in my car when the first motor popped in the STi and was a “bad influence” as to the end result. however chris is a good guy and i do have respect for the man.
i personally dont believe itd be a tune issue causing this. perhaps something to do with the fuel system? im interested to find out the results.
How much meth was in it when you turned it in? And I thought those systems lowered boost when meth ran out to prevent a blown engine, yes/no?
I topped it off, so it was completely full. In 6 months I used maybe 1/4 to 1/2 a quart of meth, so I am sure they haven’t ran it out yet. Yes, the controller does send a signal to a wg solenoid, when it detects pump failure or if it runs empty, which will cut boost to wastegate pressure. I would like to think that it would work as designed, but I tend to prepare for worse case scenarios.
alright, so odds are that it did not run out of meth and toast the motor from too much boost. Still a possibility, but seems highly unlikely from what you say.
I can’t wait to hear what Adam finds.
I’m betting the immobilizer shit the bed or something of that nature. I’m going to see if I can have them deliver the car here instead of me trucking up to Queensbury. Probably just going to have J wipe the immobilizer from the ROM first before I even attempt to go looking for any fucked up shit under the hood/dash.
If those techs ARE like that than I’d rather take the easy routes first, then dig into possible nightmares.
I bet your right. No idea what tripped it, but that would explain what is happening. Gotta wait for my wife to get off the laptop, then I will send you the file from CBRD. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think you can just wipe the immobilizer, can you? Show up with a laptop, reflash it, and I bet it fires right up.
You can rewrite the codec on the ROM under a few parameters. You can actually do a number of things like deactivate the immobilizer, deactivate EGR, o2, etc, etc. We typically don’t do the latter few as they make inspection in NYS difficult. Hence why using the non-fouler technique is the better way to go here in lovely NY.
Yeah the Evo ECU’s are awesome. The immobilizer is a PITA because a lot of things can trip it and put the car into paperweight mode. It happens most often if voltage drops/battery goes bad. Similar eprom code to what PCNA uses on their USDM cars. Way cool if someone tries to steal ur car. Way annoying if it happens to ur car for no reason.
isnt taht what i said to begin with about the sec feature on them they are so touchy its not even funny
Ahh, that could be the cause right there. I asked the guy when he called me if they checked the battery, and he told me he didn’t know. The reason I asked was because when I traded it in, I expressed my concern that the mini-battery might be getting ready to bite the dust. I noticed it was becoming much more reluctant to start when the temps started dipping below the 20’s.
