what you have will work fine with a cobb stage 2 91 oct tune. that tune is pretty rich, and should hold you over until your innovative tune. i just wouldnt recommend beating on it while you do drive it. also keep the accessport plugged in and monitor the afr’s and make sure they are safe, you can also data log with if and see where your at. i ran an intake and catless downpipe on my car that arent what cobb recommends for over a month with cobbs stage 2 map. it was fine, actually more rich than i would like, i just took it easy on the car and monitored it constantly. make sure the intake is the same diameter as the stock one and if you stay on top of it and do it right youll be fine.
As said on here, you should not drive the car in its current form. The intake might be OK depending on the size. My car wouldnt even start going from a 65mm CAI to an 83mm CAI. The MAF is stupid sensitive. The DP can cause you to overboost. Definitely do not drive it with the DP on. If you get an accessport, just run the Cobb off the shelf stage 2 map. It is your gamble if you want to keep the intake on or not. An easy fix is to pull the intake and run the stock airbox for now. You dont have to put the snorkle and air ram back on, just the air box and you will be fine.
If you dont want to spend the money on an accessport, put it back to stock or dont drive it.
For those that dont know, Subaru ECMs are really sensitive to changes. Yes, it has the ability to learn, but changing something like the downpipe is a pretty big deal for the ECM as that directly effects how the car spools and how much boost you will run.
Thanks guys. I think ill have to just take the intake off and pull the trigger on the accessport… Seems the safest… And its extremely hard to not drive agressive in it, so I’d rather not screw anything up.
Just bummed that this whole crap happened. I was so damn excited to get it in innovative. They also said they were booked till june 11th, I can’t wait that long
The same thing happened with my boy’s soarer when he had first got it. Intake and full exhaust was done causing the car to overboost. Supposedly boost pressure on those cars are regulated through the exhaust. Im guessing wrx’s are the same way.
