…please.

sorry man, i’ve been working on my car non-stop from wed to today.

Oh man i fixed mine up nice, … so sexy.

Anyone else not busy today that can help a brother out??

why is it hard?

it took 3 4 hrs to install a new manifold, turbo extension, and all gaskets.

GT

hes right its not that hard, just sometimes annoying. Why not take a go at 'er and if you run into a problem, then get some help.

its really not that hard, remove everything in the way, remove manifold, change gasket, put it all back.

GL you can do it

by the time you get there it will be too hot anyways.
How much does it pay? I’ll do it for $300 cash

-deez

good point, it takes about 1 1/2 hours before you can touch it after a long drive.

hell i’ll do it for 300 too. But any shop would do it for less 8)

Greg, you wanna help me out?

Okay, I may be on to something here. I’ve been staring at my engine bay for the past 15 minutes and i’ve decided that I may just have a go at it myself.

  1. unbolt heatshield
  2. remove hotpipe
  3. remove turbo extension
  4. unbolt that little black box to the upper right of the manifold so it can be moved out of the way
  5. unbolt manifold
and 6) is where I get stuck.
I imagine 6 should be: unbolt the 4 bolts that secure the manifold to the turbo. however, these bolts (for some ungodly reason) are not on the top, they are underneath and they seem impossible to get to. Help.

Yes that is the most difficult part of the job, that is what we are talking about. You will have trouble at it, but they can be had with a 13mm wrench/smallsocket.

yup, and dont forget, if you dont have 13mm wrench, 1/2" is the same!!!

takes time and patience.

you can remove the entire turbo manifold and extension on one shot you know.

thats why its so easy.

then unbolt everything once it is off the car

GT

So i’ve made so much progress that I hate to have to post again but here’s the problem:

I’ve unbolted everything!
Nothing is in the way!
Those damn four bolts on the underside are removed (lost one in the process)!
However, how do I actually get the manifold off now? it’s like 8 studs going from the block to the manifold running horizontally into the manifold, and then the four studs from the manifold running vertically down into the turbo.

I can’t get the manifold out.

Excuse my ignorance, you can’t just jack it up and attack from below?

all I want is the manifold out, so it’s easier to get at it from the top.

But now i’m stuck.
