Turbo Gurus... another blown turbo?

Basically if it’s fucked, you send it to them to be replaced… See how all that works? They are there to serve you, not the other way around.

It’s probably flanged wrong… T3 vs Mitsubishi.

BB’s get replaced, not rebuilt.

Good luck with that.

I say try it with the restrictor before you get uppity

:word: I agree.

what is the stock oil pressure at the feed you are using?

my gt35r with 3an line is runnign fine without an oil restrictor, but the pressure feed is only 20 psi… ball bearing turbos are more tolerant of bad oiling conditions… -6an line is small for an oil return… -10AN is the way to go, ive NEVER seen a -6an oil return fitting (one of the CNC single piece ones) there has to be a reason behind that…

Define “bad oiling conditions”. They are far less tolerant of contaminants than a standard thrust bearing.

Where can I get some of those drugs? BB turbos need the following to be happy and healthy:

  1. Inline oil filter with at least a 10 micron filter element
  2. lower oil pressure than your standard bearing turbos

ahh the dreaded turbo seal, been there done that, sucks ass too!!!

OT:i think i saw u a few saturdays ago newman coming off the 190 to the 90 merge going towards WS.

thats where i got it

You misconstrued what Garrett said. “Bad” and “Marginal” are two very different terms.

Garrett is speaking purely in terms of oil pressure and subsequently volume. The quality of the oil is an even greater importance as BB turbos are less tolerant of impurities and can cause a perfectly good turbo CHRA to need replacement.

more tolerant doesnt mean that they need NO oil im not retarded and neither is newman… but its alot harder to blow seals on a gt turbo then one might think

apparenlty not. newman did it in less than a day.

reread the last part of your garrett quote. they are refering to engine shut down.

christian, when i had my civic i would see around 35-40psi at start up until the motor warmed up and idle came down, then i saw around 15-20psi. Im sure your motor would behave similar. Try the oil restrictor and hope for the best, however it doesnt sound too promising.

oh, how come only some of the customers are complaining about this issue??? honestly i cant imagine more than 3-4 people out there with this kit, and of there are these people maybe you sould try talkin to them about it also.

update, oil restrictor fixed it, more or less, it’s not smoking or blowing oil anymore. And using a .375" drain should be plenty sufficient for a .035" feed. Now i just need to fix a vacuum leak and i should be good to go.

awsome!

noice.

now i just have to get it to run right… Ran like ass yesterday… fucking piggybacks. Ran like i had a HUGE vacuum leak…

waiting for sprfreek on this one…
