over on the eclipse board i ran across this setup for sale, and it looks a bit frankensteined to me
its a prototype for a company that is looking at selling turbo kits for teh eclipse, and it doesnt strike me as being something that would have good flow
they took a manifold made of the evo, hacked of the flange, welded on the extensions at a bit of an angle, then those pipes enter the turbo at a stupid angle too
good or no good ?
the parts list:
Evo 8 ss tubular manifold extended to fit our cars
Evo 8 twinscroll tdo5hr 16g with the 9.8 hotside
Evo 8 ss o2 housing
Evo 8 ss 3 inch downpipe
Evo 8 ss 3" Highflow resonator with o2 bung welded in it not shown here on nyspeed
All gaskets and nuts included
looks SOMEWHAT ok, no matter what im sure it flows better than a log. the angles are def. pretty wackey though, looks like a laziness for bending/piecutting to me
and it doesnt appear that the extension tubes onform to the ports on teh turbo either, i beleive that they are supposed to be basicly triangular, the extension tubes appear to still be round
and it doesnt appear that the manifold was even ment for a twin scroll to begin with … unless they cut off most of the section wheer the tubes used to come together
Its hard to tell casure u really cant tell how the pipes enter the collector…but it has to be better than a cast iron manifold…but again there is definately a better design to be had
It should flow fine till it cracks apart…looks like somebody just learned to weld and used an ss autochrome header to start with. If that is in infact an ss autochrimes pos expect to spend a lot of money getting it rewelded all the time.
i figured it was a cheap ass header, and the dude selling it ignored my post asking what brand the header was
apparently the company that built this header is willing to sell complete turbo kits for 2100 for the 3g (including safc, fuel pump, and injectors) :roll2:
