Turbo Honda guys... Hondata s200 or 300?

throwin a garrett gt2860rs on my b18c swap. Just wonderin from you honda guys where you get your Hondata tuned, how much it costs, and which system to run. i have a p72 ecu in the car now, but i also have a p28 laying around both virgin. let me know the prices and opinions on the systems you guys are runnin.

if you want to retain the knock board (which i would) use the p72. also i would go with s300. although either will work the 300 has alot more features that make it worth the extra $. how much tuning costs could be varied by many factors. most tuners will charge an hourly rate and the only option that is allowed to be spoken on here is hybrid dynamics. so don’t be expecting to get any more options on here. i’m not bashing them or anything. they do great work and i would recommend them. the best thing to do is call them and discuss your set-up is and what you would like to be done to your car and go from there.

Yea i was thinking about the Knock sensor… i want to keep that, i wasnt sure at first if that could be added to the p28 or not. however i didnt think i could run the s300 in the p72 because it is a jdm small case ecu, or maybe im thinkin of the s200, i cant remember.

save your self some $ and use crome

i have been useing it for 2 years with no problems what so ever!

Where to get it tuned: Hybridynamics. Even if you would get Crome.
I can’t remember cost or anything. I’d get the S300. I have the S200, but that’s all that was out then.

I can’t complain about the system at all, but I don’t do my own tuning so I don’t know that side of it. Runs smooth, no hiccups, and it hasn’t been on a dyno for 2 years.

Conventional wisdom holds that the stock Knock Board is all but useless for detecting knock in boosted applications. It appears to be a basic safeguard against bad gas, and nothing more. also honda Knock Boards freak over forged internals, and detect knocking (false-postive) with forged pistons.
the only real big reason i would say to run the p72 is because you have a gsr and gsrs have iabs, you could run the p28 but its gonna cost you a buttload to have the iab circuitry added to that board

DISCO you go to Robert Morris right?.. And a question about the knock board on hondas. Is it a microphone like most other knock sensors, and is that why forged pistons give false readings?

yea Honda knock sensors are pretty much a waste.

Ill more than likely be adding a J&S Safeguard this year to my engine to monitor for knock. Sure their costly but better than scrapping a motor I dumped thousands of dollars into.

Yea i go to Robert Morris… do i know you?? and about the knock sensor im not sure. but yea about the iabs imkeeping it for now at least so i will use the p72

I ran a stock p72 manifold, but i took the butterfly plate out and bolted them together, people also cut out all of the guts to make it all open that works too…

Or just buy a Skunk 2 Pro and avoid the situation completely!

Have you looked into Neptune RTP? It is a very flexible system and incidentally preferred by HybridDynamics who IMHO are the only tuners I’d consider.

AEBS matches the downward angle of the intake ports on the head (specific to the p72 head) much better than Sk2 and their clones. For an unported head it is the better pick, and cheaper to boot.

not that i know much of anything about bootsted applications, but i did just purchase the AEBS intake mani for my b18c. it was really cheap, the only thing i dont like about it is before i throw it on, it looks like some of the welds inside need cleaned up a bit it

hybrid has their neptune license??

Yeah, they do need a little smoothing out inside the runners, but for the price you almost expect that. Overall though they match the steeply inclined b18c1 intake ports very well, which will in turn make the flow into the chamber much more efficient.

I just checked and apparently no, unless they’re not advertising it. Oh well.
