i have a rev hard stage 2 turbo kit for a 2000 civic ex d16y8 and would like to do most if not all of the install myself but i would like it if a shop wouldnt mind giving me pointers and a space to do it i dont care if it is at night or anything like that but i just want some space to do it and some supervision. if anyone knows anyplace that would be willing to do something like that let me know. a friend of mine has been trying to talk to josh to see if he could help us.
p.s. my friend shawn is in the same boat and keep in mind we will pay but just want to make sure we are doing things correctly.
It will be hard to find a shop that will agree to let you do that in their facilities. I would guess the #1 issue for them would be insurance. Maybe you best bet would be to install it with the help of someone who has done similar work in the past, it can’t be that hard to install this kit if you have the right tools.
If you don’t have the tools or space to do this work, it would probably be worth it to just pay a shop to do the whole thing for you. You could probably get help by just offering pizza and drinks. I would be interested in learning about Hondas.
its a pretty straight foward install, and pretty much all bolt-on… except for the oil return. you should be able to do it in your driveway over a weekend.
I did a kit on a NT DSM. I had a few people help. It was done here and there over a course of a week. Great learning experience. If you have a good set of tools, you’ll get it done with little to no problems. And if your missing anything in particular, thats what this forum does. Puts you in touch with people who have the tools and the know how!
if you really need a space, i think IIRC that pep-boys rents out garage bays by the hour or something, you cool look into that. otherwise you could do it in your driveway over a weekend
i figure that this kit will be no problem because it is all bolt on with the exception of the oil return so thats my biggest concern. if anyone has any tips get back to me. as far as space i can do it in the parking lot at my appartment but dont really want to. if anyone is experianced with doing a turbo on a honda wants to help pm me and i would be willing to have an extra set of experianced eyes.
thanks again all of you for your help. i think i have the tools but dont have a welding set up so thats my only concern there.
main issue is trying to figure out where is the best place to tap vacume lines and oil lines. if anyone has experiance with boosting a honda sohc info would be great. online pics would be good to. i have very genaric instructions. i now have a place to do it i just need to worry about the things mentioned above.thanks again for your help guys and girls
