I would like to put a mild turbo set up (entry leval) on my stock 95 240
I’ve looked around and i’m getting confused who makes a GOOD complete kit
including fuel manegment at a good price other than Gerrett (would like something cheaper) . most kits i see don’t include the fuel manegment stuff (gerrett does) perhaps you could tell me a kit and what needs to be added to it
please if your going to strap a turbo kit to your car dont cheap out, you’ll run into bigg problems eventually
Are The Greddy Kits Any Good
greddy/trust are out of business…no more warranties
Greddy Japan is, US isn’t affected.
The Greddy kits aren’t worth the money. You can do an SR20DET swap for the same price. A turbo KA takes a lot of time, effort and mechanical knowledge. I’d just recommend the swap.
No thanks i’m not really a fan of swaping motors I just really want a comprehensive turbo kit
Why aren’t they worth the money?
3,500 USD (not incl shipping, duties + taxes) is not worth it for mediocre gains. The kit doesn’t even come with an intercooler, IC piping, wideband, wastegate and BOV. It’s going to be over $5000 to put that mediocre kit on your car to net around the same performance as an sr20det with a smaller turbo.
$3,300USD
OR
$3,500 USD

The Greddy kit is pretty much worthless.
Ohhh okay, you’re speaking from experience, I’m sure. Or just hearsay.
Hearsay? No. Common sense? Yes.
So you’re saying that you’d spend $3,500 on a kit with a cast iron log manifold and a non-garret non ball bearing turbo roughly the size of the T25’s from the SR20’s?
Or
$3,300 on a GT3071R + Tial 44mm Wastegate + Best.KA.Manifold.Period + 3" SS downpipe?
All you need is injectors, and ECU tune, and you have the same parts for your Greddy kit.
But the Fullrace kit I linked isn’t complete, neither is the Greddy, but you can get better KA turbo kits for less than the Greddy that come with MORE.
Here
$3,000 FOR A FULL kit, with a beautiful, solid manifold + BOV + Intercooler + better and bigger turbo
Hearsay? I say truth.
call me or come to the shop, I could do a turbo set for your car.
This thread is full of fail dating back to 5-10 years ago. Go on the state-side kat forums… do things right, you will be full of win. No I’m not talking from experience, although I budgeted a serious ka-t build at one point, but just speaking from cautious observations of bullshit left and right… plus this whole son mentality that you must get an SR and that ‘your kat will blow up’… urgh… Until we get people running kats built to the extent kat forums have them going stateside… we won’t have any reliable info going on this forum in regards to kats… just hate.
Think you’re in the wrong thread. No one has said anything bad about KA-T’s. Just knocking the fact the Greddy kit is awful. Likewise, the only mention of an SR20DET swap was on the basis of cost comparison. A KA-T is attractive because it’s cheaper and provides more gain than an SR20DET. Yet, the Greddy kit completely undermines the cost advantage by costing upwards of over $4,600 Canadian (Have you seen our currency recently? haha 20 cents under the USD in addition to duties/taxes) to get into the country, not including additional parts required for it resulting in the same performance as an SR20DET. So by going the Greddy kit, you might aswell go SR20DET because it’d be simpler.
By the way, I run a KA24DE-T. Well, it’s in pieces in my garage. A KA-T build requires more knowledge and effort than an SR20DET swap, so it’s not wise to recommend it to someone who doesn’t have any mechanical experience.
Just curious, don’t flame lol. Somebody who has a SR20DET in there car, im wondering how much they paid. I really want to turbo my car, but not sure if its even worth it. I dont track or anything, I just want more power.
yo talk to Draggone man! He has a built KA-T and im doing one as well with him! He’ll make a list for you of what you need depending on your power goals and future add-ons! Dont end up like AhmedG (sorry ahmedG for the cheap shot)… really its spending money where u need too! First thing im going to tell you is budget for pistons, metal head gasket, and ARP head bolts FIRST!! Get all parts together then save for labour!!
later man
Ouch Junior, that hurt. lol salt in the wound
the greddy kit is obviously a rip off, this kind of stuff would be cool for 1999 lmao… ‘yo yo i got greddy yo’
Dude shut up already. You make it sound like its the biggest pile of shit out there yet you probably havent even seen one first hand. The Greddy kit isnt bad, infact its good. Its a kit that bolts in without hassle and makes good power out of the box. Some people want an easy installation without having to tune the ECU, and they want it reliably, this product provides that. You have to pay for convenience.
240sx fantastic YOu havent even installed your kit and you are already talking shit about a product you know nothing about other than its expensive. BTW, whats kit did you get?
