Turbo shaft play...

I just got a turbo for my '01 Saab 9-5 and it has a little shaft play side to side but zero shaft play in and out. Is it still good to use or no?

it depends what is a “little” my old t3/t4 had a “little” play and was done… my old tdi turbo had alot of play and lasted around 12k miles since i put it back in…

They all move a little side to side even brand new ones are zero still. its the in and out and alot of side to side to be worried about sounds fine to me

If it was moving in and out as well id be a little more worried, but as long as u spin it and its spinnign freely and not slamming the walls id be fine, make suer theres not scrapes on the edge of the blades and turbine housing as well

my 50 trim spun freely. but was toast.

You may have turbo shaft play, but joey jiggs plays with turbo shafts.
