Turtle Wax ICE Review.

I saw a commercial for Turtle Wax’s new ICE line and decided to give it a try yesturday so i bought the Liquid Clay Bar, Liquid Polish and Detailer spray.

I decided to give this a try since it boasts the ability to not have any issues working in direct sunlight on a hot day which is my driveway any given day of the summer.

The liquid clay bar went on very easily with a supplied mirco sponge mit. with a minimmal amount of elbow grease i managed to work out all of my small scratches in the paint though other imperfections did need a little more attention.

The liquid polish comes with an applicator pad and a microfiber cloth to wipe it off. The liquid goes on clear so it can be hard to tell just how thick your laying the polish on but it does wipe off EXTREMELY easy and leaves a nice glossy surface. I only applied this step once though it does say for a richer gloss apply multiple times. The next time if i have more time i’m going to do 2 coats and see how big of a difference it makes.

They recomend finishing off the process with their ICE detailer spray. This product is awsome. The spray pattern is kind of awkward as it sprays pellets of foam out vs. a nice fine mist but it does wipe away streak free and enhances that nice mirror gloss exceptionally well.

Overall i’d buy this product again for it’s ease of use in my conditions. I have gotten a better show room look from different products under the same conditions but they weren’t as easy to work with imo and the difference isn’t really that much either…

Total cost was about $35 for everything and this stuff can be used rather sparingly per application so it’s definately a cheap buy in the long run.

I will post pics later tonight when i get home.

Pics look a little shitty cause it was done on my camera phone.

added pics.

Thanks for the review, I was just going to post a thread asking if anyone tried this stuff yet. I hate detailing in my hot as hell garage then pull my car out and notice unfinished spots when the sun hits it.

Hey,you live around the block from me. I see your car there once in awhile.

Pics look good. I hear the durability is not there though. Haven’t tried it myself though.

I used the ICE on my car. I didn’t use the detailing spray afterwards. I also only used one coat of wax. It turned out nice though. Next time I’m going to do it up a lot better.

the detailer spray makes a big difference. it has carnuba in it. We’ll see about the durability… i just put it on yesturday but for the amount you use and the time it takes it’s really not that big of an issue. Though spending 2 hours detailing your car then having it plastered with dead bugs 3 hours later is a big bummer…

it took me less then 2 hours to detail my car.

Lol i think i hear your car once in a while jdmsir :-p

Thanks for the comments too!

Nice write-up…my uncle uses this stuff and likes it a lot too.

i’m gettin red X’s

I’ve been using ice products on my car for the last 6 months or so.

I started with the ice wax. It appealed to me because you can spray it directly on the black trim, and not only does it not leave white residue, it makes the trim pieces look better.

A few observaions I have with the ice wax:

It definitley doesn’t last like a carnuba wax. And like you I have gotten better finishes with carnuba based liquid polishes. But I can completely ice wax my car in 20 minutes…Which cuts my waxing time down from a few hours. It leaves a nice shine, however I have to use 2 microfibre towels afterwards to get it all off. I really never dries IMO, i think this also plays into the longevity, because you end up with a really thin coat. You can’t see when it’s all off, you have to kind of feel the surface for smoothness. If it feels like a carnuba job, then it’s all off. If your fingers still drag a little then it’s still on there.

I then picked up the liquid clay bar for some heavy rail dust that developed over the winter, it simply did not cut it for rail dust, and I had to go back to the good ole maguires clay bar. What I do with this liquid clay bar now though, is about twice now I’ve added about an ounce of the liquid clay bar, to my car wash soap. It strips off all the wax, and does a great job getting off anything but rail dust.

The spray detailer is pretty good. Once again though you have to really make sure it’s all wiped off. Like the wax. I actually like the maggies quick detailer a little better.

The shit though is the Ice car wash I just picked up 2 weeks ago. Great car wash.

I think they have a paste wax too, wonder how that would work?

not sure what the deal is with the red x’s unless i reached my bandwith quota… hmm…

I almost bought the paste but opted for the liquid because it sounded easier.

why is it taking you so long? i wash and wax my wifes expedition in under an hour.

ill never use this garbage

^^ Just because you wash and wax it doesn’t mean it’s clean and polished.

+1 to buying some good stuff
