TV Crew: Help my dad find a new TV

So my dad is in the market for a 52", he wants to get the most value with his money and hopefully still stay with a good brand / picture quality / resolution

his criteria

52"
can be LCD or plasma but perferably LCD
budget is $1500-$2000

I know alot of you guys are into this kind of stuff so I appriciate the help.
