@LZ - defending the GT-Rs honor? The only things stated was that it is a pointless video/race. There was nothing at stake. It wasn’t a random street race from a light with an unsuspecting and pretentious gt-r owner getting beat by an escalade. It was a setup race to showcase a product.
It’s just NOT a big deal at all. The escalade ran a mid-11 1/4 mile. By today’s drag racing standards it’s not exactly amazing. Definitely impressive for a 6k pound suv, though.

for what its worth, there are a couple of monster trucks that are “escalades” that have 1500hp and wiegh like 10 tons. they would crush a GTR in a race. emphasis on crush. hahaha
If they raced a Viper i’m sure the responses would have been better.

and i understand physics quite well, as i am an engineer. i just thought it was rediculous that you said it would not be able to stop to save your life, yet the truck of interest had upgraded brakes so im sure it stops pretty well. not as good as a sports car but for a truck im sure very well.
and you also have to comment on that it cant turn, since when is there any mention of turning and road racing this thing? yea, clearly thats what they were going for when they did this.

throw a Belltech (or other reputable truck supsension company) setup on their, some gnarly sway bars and youre good to go track racing.

Seeing as you should have taken the same physics classes I did, then you should be able to grasp the fact that you can only stop that heavy ass truck so fast, regardless of what brakes it has on it. Sure it stops well for an ESCALADE, but that doesn’t mean much in the grand scheme of what high-power street driven cars are capable of. Tractor trailers can lock up their brakes quite easily and have HUGE brakes all around- You wanna pull out in front of one of them and test your theory?
You obviously missed the point of what I was trying to say. When I said YOUR, I meant as in the person that the driver of this truck is likely going to pile it into. I understand what the people in this market are like, especially those who would pile money into something such as this. 99% the guy is going to use this truck for what it is built for. The amount of kinetic energy rolling around on those wheels is a tad on the scary side when you factor in the center of gravity, its braking potential, and its instability and the speeds that this truck will be capable of [not to mention the failure potential of a 1000HP 6000lb AWD drivetrain]. If the truck was dropped LOW, had an excellent suspension, rubber, brakes, and shed a whole lot of weight, I would not have nearly as much of a problem with it. It does not appear to have the whole package- only the power, with a nice helping of Hopes and Dreams.
How comfortable would you feel if you were driving/racing in this truck, and something caused you to abruptly swerve? My guess is that your asshole would pucker just a bit more than usual… and you are going to need that OnStar button.
Save the crazy power for the cars that have a prayer of controlling it.
