Two Step for Foureyed

This detail was completed for Foureyed’s dad. Joe contacted me to detail his dads truck for him while he was away on vacation. After speaking with Joe about what he was looking for, We agreed on a two step polish with a goal of achieving 85% paint correction and the paint sealed with a sealant. A complete interior reconditioning was also completed.

Once i arrived and gave the truck a good inspection, I found some areas that would need more than just a two step. His dad had touched up a few areas. This left some high spots of touch up paint. Some very deep long scratches and rids were also found.

I contacted Joe to further discuss the plan of attack. He gave me the go ahead to fixe the damaged areas.

First the truck was pressure washed, then given a foam bath to help start breaking up all the dirt, grime and grease. I then rinsed again and refoamed. I then washed the truck using a sheepskin wash mitt.

The tires were cleaned using a rubber, vinyl cleaner to my specific needs that is ph balanced. After letting it dwell, the tires were then scrubbed down

The rims were cleaned with a non acid wheel cleaner, then cleaned using an assortment of brushes.

I then clayed the truck using Detailers pride medium grade clay. I ended up using over 100 grams of clay to remove all the surface contamination.

Claying the truck really brought out all the swirls and rids. A significant amount of holograming was also present.

This is caused by someone who is using improper methods with a buffer.

Their was alot of areas that had some very deep scratches and rids. These areas were wetsanded down using 2000 grit sand paper.

About an inch below the botto right hand corner was a very high spot from touch up paint.

This scratch ran about 3/4 length of the way down the passenger side

Here are a few of the areas all wet sanded down awaiting to be corrected.

If i recall, their was 8 separate spots that needed to be wet sanded down.

Now when properly done, wetsanding is a safer way to remove defects out of the paint than taking a buffer, cranking up the rpm and trying to remove a defects. By using high rpm’s you will heat the paint up quickly which you do not want. This will pull the paint off the panel or you will burn it right of extremely quickly.
By wetsanding you are removing the defects from the paper glidding over a cool wet surface. Even though you can sand the clear off, sanding is done at a much slower pace, the paint is kept cool and light sanding marks correct alot faster and easier then a deep scratch.

I ran out of daylight so the photos were rushed towards the end. I was unable to complete the interior that day and came back another day and completed the job. i forgot my camera that day so no interior photos.

The interior had all carpeting and seats shamooed. all the vinyl, door jambs, vents were all steam cleaned and then had a protectant applied.

Nice. OT: Where is the before & after for Geoff’s white Subaru?

We had to reschuedule due to rain, We wll be getting his car done very soon.

Simon did an awesome job on this truck! Everything was in very rough shape and well abused. After he got done, it is pretty much a new truck again. Simon is very professional with everything, and took a lot of time to explain what he was doing, and what products he was using. His attention to detail is amazing, and he will take the time to do everything right. I know he has about 14+ hours into this truck, and it came out amazing. My dad is blown away with how everything came out. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Simon to the pickiest of people. My car will be next on the list…

Glad you are happy. Getting a detail for your dad was sure a kick ass gift. Good to here he was very pleased also.

Wow, looks great! Can’t wait for you to get your hands on mine (nohomo).

Simon, I sent you a text yesterday

I was a bit bummed that this post did not involve a turbo mustang launching.

Two-stepping while he’s two-stepping? That could make for a good video :xz:

I was saying the same thing :frowning: Someone should get on that!

Wow that looks great. Nice job!

Sunday Afternoon. This weather has put me a little behind

LOL… that post will be in a few weeks.
