UB Paintball Team

Probably not what you’re expecting considering I’ve made a few of these threads before. Instead of just asking if one existed and then going no where, I spent the summer organizing a UB paintball team and am looking for anyone and everyone who is interested in playing. We have about ten guys already and are looking for more. It doesn’t matter if you’ve played for years or just went along for the ride at a bachelor party :D. If you come out and play, you do not have to compete in the national tournaments we will be participating in. If you just want to come and relax and shoot people, that’s great. The more people involved in the sport the better. But, we will be competing in the NCPA AA class this year and I personally will be geared toward making this a paintball TEAM and working with players who will be committed to the success of the team in the NCPA AND UB.

And for those of you who think everything is going to be sponsored and funded, keep in mind pretty much everything we’re doing is coming out of our own pockets. I’ve made contacts for fields and possibly paint, but paintball is not a cheap sport and playing in the college circuit does not lessen that fact. The UB student association, much like Erie County, does pretty much nothing for anyone as far as going anywhere with anything unless they profit. Giving money away to a new athletic club for a sport they’ve never heard of and know jack shit about isn’t something they want to do. You will have to pay a fair share of fees for tournaments, fields, paint, air, equipment, transportation, etc.

If you’re looking to just have fun and not compete, the cost is significantly less. You’ll just need equipment and then pay for paint and air and field time every time you play. Not too big a deal.

If you are looking to compete, even with your own equipment it’s not going to be cheap. Fortunately, the will-be captain of the team is a dealer and can get you tournament ready for a little cheaper than usual and with brand new equipment.

As of right now, the team is not even a club with temporary status so we cannot practice as a UB team. I will be finalizing everything within the next week and hopefully we will have our first playing-practice the first week of September. However, we obviously want to meet anyone who wants to play and get names and information down for the id’s we have to fill for the NCPA. Once I know when and where the captain can meet, I will post here so everyone knows. If you have any questions I’ll gladly answer them.

edit - My apologies; I assumed everyone who’s on here is a student at UB. I just ran across the rules for the NCPA this year and saw you have to be student at the school the team is representing. I don’t think there’s a problem with you coming out to play with the team, but you won’t be able to compete and will not be recognized by the school, the team or the NCPA. But if you’ve been looking for people to play against for some experience, I don’t see any problems so long as you realize I can’t recognize you as a member of the team.

I’ll be there… I’d love to compete if I’m good enough!

o.k.

The meeting is this Saturday, September 3rd in the South Lake Common Room (behind alumni arena) at 4.00pm

EDIT - MAKE SURE YOU CONTACT VLAD (AIM UBPaintball) AND MAKE SURE THIS IS WHERE WE ARE MEETING.

man i would liek to get into this… do you need to attend ub to play. i have some friends in your area that are prety good. one baught my gun yast year wheni decided to give it up

sorry - the NCPA rules for this year state each player on the roster has to be an undergraduate or graduate student of the school

I played for UB briefly my freshman year, we used a field in Rochester. Is that what you are doing again?

i would but i dont have time/money or go to UB…i use to be realy good though.

azndc5er - I think the field you’re thinking about has closed. Pat’s Paintball, right? We’re going to be using a different field this time. It’s still in Rochester, but it’s amazing to say the least.

i played with zong as well and i am strongly considering coaching this team and am lightly considering playing, but ill be at the meeting on sat. hope to see some of u there

Which field are you going to use? I’ve probably heard of it.

boardjnky4 - uhh coaching? I don’t know how that’ll work but who knows

azndc5er - NVP in Rochester, just opened about eight months ago

I stopped playing because driving to rochester every week was a pita. There are an abundance of fields in the buffalo area now compared to 2 years back when I played, why not try to strike a deal with one of the fields in Buffalo?

Several of the players including myself have looked at fields in Buffalo and none of them really compare to NVP. A field called Club PB of WNY recently opened up. I’ve played there and it’s probably your best bet if you want to play locally. Unfortunately, it’s outdoors so we would need to find another place soon. If you know of a good, local, indoor field let me know, but I’ve been searching all summer and I haven’t found one I liked. The ride to Rochester might be annoying, it’s our best bet so far.
