Ubuntu considerations, thinking about installing it.

With his 1ghz machine GNOME or KDE will be fine… just extra stuff like beryl or compiz don’t bother

7.04 has done a really incredible job with hardware compatibility… I haven’t noticed a problem with my machine or any other I have installed this on… being that its a laptop, i would assume its going to use common hardware, so it should be fine… and for the older machine everything should work perfect too…

Game, yes… they are a pain in the ass to get working… Dual boot if you are a hardcore gamer
