Anything we can do about this? I always post both the link, and imbed the video, but if a video is imbedded, you can’t even see it in the post (most likely flash player, right)
I know other forums I’m on has imbedded video that can be viewed from an iPhone
But seriously, I think iPhone users can only see HTML5 video embedded right? I just made a change that might work… granted it will only do so until the next time we upgrade the forums, but let me know if you can see this video on your Apple device:
I just tried it on a browser that doesn’t support Flash and it shows up and starts to play, however it says “unavailable.” I’m not sure if the video above is also available in HTML5.
Anyone know if YouTube makes both versions (Flash & HTML5) available for every video? Or are just some videos converted to HTML5?
I know, but android has been correct in that flash has been a stepping stone to use until web sites and devices are truly ready for the HTML5 switch, while apple has been denying their users this whole time.
also they said flash wouldn’t be supported in ICS before too, but yet it is. Who knows when the support will truly stop.
Sure, that’s what they said. But that didn’t stop flash from coming to my phone months after Adobe made that announcement and specifically said it wasn’t coming to my phone. The trick is it’s through FireFox since the browser is Flash Certified.
And it’s easy to changed the reported version of the player to keep older versions working longer if they decide not to update it.
I’m sure there is someone working on it for Android like they did on mine. Get FireFox mobile, get Flash, browse the full web.
“Embedding Disabled by Request” is done by the uploader, which obviously prevents playing the video on any other site but Youtube. The new embedding style is just an iframe and should be visable and redirect to the Youtube app on the iPhone I assume. The old version (which is a check box when embedding) uses the flash action script to embed the video from my understanding. This should give users a blank placeholder if they don’t have flash installed. Any word on supporting the short code from youtube?
