what do you guys think of underdrive crank pulleys? I am thinking of buying one for my KA24DE. are they worth the money?
I made a poll on 780tuners about this issue. Half are convinced it’s terrible for the engine, half are all for it. I don’t know what to think just yet.
besides slowing down the PS pump and alt. slightly i couldnt see it hurting anything. :roll:
They are bad if you remove a harmonic ballencer.
Our engines are ballanced internaly so there is no issue with using them.
That is the big debate.
On my Spec V, which is also internally balanced, I have a crank pulley. You’ll notice a difference in the revving ability of the car. It isn’t a huge power gain, but it makes it a shitload easier to rev match downshifts.
It’s worth it if you can get it cheap enough just for the daily driving convinience of the rev matching!
I heard the crank pulley is good for at least 8 whp for the KA…but for 250 $ :roll:
If your gonna get one just get the Ebay ones, they are alot cheaper.
