It’s probably got more to do with that fact that you are generating boost, than the strain of the pulley itself.
That is pretty terrible. My Dad has a 2010 Impala and gets 26-27 mpg on the highway. Could be your old man drives it like an a-hole and my old man drives it like an old man?
Well cruise control at 70 doesn’t create any positive boost, it’s still negative. Or are you saying IT IS generating boost because at idle it’s at about -9 lbs and cruising at 70 it’s closer to 0. I would have to give it some gas at that point to bring it above zero.
Disclaimer:
I am NOT a boost expert.
That sounds like there’s something wrong. What are those cars rated at?
And really ron? 40’s in a Cruze? That’s outstanding.
See, I still think these numbers are pretty weak…especially for a modern day NA 4 cyl. A friend has an '05 C230 Benz with the factory supercharged 4 cylinder…37mpg highway outta that car.
I just got 23mpg in my 10 year old, 300hp, V8, autotragic, 4000#+, Audi at about 75mph on a trip to Cleveland and back. That includes some city driving and slower construction driving. Didn’t even stop for gas the entire trip.
So far I’ve only gotten a best of 19 mpg highwy on the mustang but it does have 410 cubes and 525 flywheel horsepower. But when I compare that to my 1998 v6 165 hp awd explorer with 165K on it that gets the same mileage, that makes me feel shitty about my truck and good about the mustang
lol new rule: Don’t post a car that gets less than 35 mpg in a thread about cars that get really good mileage.
how are you getting 35mpg out of a 325i? thats really good…the most i have gotten is about 27-28 in my 323i 5 speed (which is still the 2.5l) i am talking actual numbers, not the silly gage in the cluster.
as for the question about mid 20’s being good, it depends on who you talk to. anything breaking into the 20’s is good for me, considering my s10 was getting 4-5mpg.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised lately to see 34+ in my b5 a4 1.8t with 173k on the clock. I only see this sans roof rack though. The rack really kills my mileage.
My moms TSX is a champ (fry)
New rule don’t post a car with less than 300hp in this thread because if you have less than 300hp you should be getting 40mpg or it is not worth owning.
All these rules! Unexpected MPG superstar thread turns into make sure youhave 400+horsepowerandifyoudont youshouldbedirivingadieslethreadyouignorantfuckstickoh andbytheway20mpgisgarbage
well the title is UNEXPECTED MPG SUPERSTARS
I expect a chevy cruze to get 40mpg
I don’t expect a modded vette to get 40mpg
Exactly. Either your MPG or your HP should start with a 4.
I’d say, both MPG and HP should start with at least a 3
LOVE IT!
Chevy cruze has MPG starting with a 4. Your logic is flawed, glad you’re not a programmer.
But Mr. Junky, sir, the Cruze is expected.
I have the same exact car, it’s not too bad if you stay on the highway. City kills it, I avg around 22-23mpg depending on how traffic is for the tank of gas. Seems like cruise control doesn’t help at all, better off loosing a mph or two then flooring it to not slow down lol
I programmed the brains of industrial gas plants for years. Nothing flawed about my logic, nor a chevy cruze if it gets 4x mpg.

So can we rename the thread “Talk about your own car’s gas mileage”?
