upgrading which route to go

So I was Looking on newegg.com for a new internal HD for my hp laptop.
I have 160gb, I want 500gb.
i don’t know what the rpm speed is on my current HD, nor do i know which one is better.

Basically im asking for advice on which one is better 5400rpm/7200rpm?
also it says cache size 8mb or 16mb whats that for?

Another thing, im looking to replace my 3gb ram to 4gb ram, so the 1gb strip needs to come out and replaced with a 2gb strip.

Which one would need based on DDR2?

well the ram just look at the speed on your 2gig stick and dont buy lower or both sticks will run at the lower speed. and for a HD the 5400 will open and load slower. the 7200 obv is faster also. and for cashe size not to sure. but buy the 500gig seagate or WD on newegg. its the 7200rpm for 139 good deal was free shipping the i got it
