They don’t make pieces they go the whole distance so cuts needed to be made. This is where you use wood glue, cut the crown molding 1/16 more than you need to make a tight seal, use caulk to hide the line, and then repaint the section with an artist brush. Caulking and touch-ups of the holes are the time consuming parts for this job.
Was the all of the trim originally white? I would imagine for rental property white is preferred as you can just touch it up if it is knicked or damaged between renters where as a stained piece you really cant
Yes, when I bought the place over 3 years ago, all the trim was white.
It used to be all natural woodwork under all that paint. House was built in 1930.
