used car dealer talk

makes sense, why pay someone else when you can own the cars outright and pay 0 interest, especially if there is not much more money to be made

think you can find me a decent running car for $500? I want to do that 24 hours of lemons next year. all it needs to do is be able to be driven for 24hours, good motor is the only thing it needs really. I believe brakes and tires are all “safety items” and don’t go into the total cost of the car. interior will just be gutted and replaced with a race bucket and cage

Can find cars/suvs for 500 all day that run/drive good if you dont care about the body

great, I will let you know. Body does not matter as long as it’s somewhat intact. car will just be turned into a cheap race car basically

in my experience its the scumbags that make it in the business and keep their doors open while the guys trying to run a honest business fold up after a few years ( not talking about you dave at all your def a rare case )

I remember seeing cars not sell at the auction for $75 and they were driven thru the auction.

I kinda wish I bought the awd Ford Tempo for $75.

car dealers are stupid:shifty:vlad

375-400 is like the absolute cheapest now adays… The buy fee is sometimes. $150-200 itself

I used to go a while back so Im sure its changed. I guess we can thank the cash for clunkers program and find a way to blame Obama for it too

I been selling cars full time for a little over 2 years now. when i first started i was buying 1k and 2k cars. and honestly it just wasn’t worth it. the money to be made is their on the cheaper cars. but the risk is bigger belive it or not. if you buy it from the auction a car at that price is sold as is, so your rolling the dice that that car has a good engine, tranny or frame damage. and if you have a cheap car that needs a cat, brakes and tires and a couple other small things that will eat up all your profit quick. plus the headache of dealing with all those little things. not worth it IMO. i would rather spend a couple extra grand, buy a green light car, have a week to bring it back if it has major issues. yeah i might set on it for a little bit before i sell it, but i would rather set on it for that period of time than to have it for the same period of time but be getting work done on it.

and to the guys that are saying this dealer or that dealer is cutting corners on the cars, all i have to say to that is that every used car dealer is doing it. you want to be Mr. honest guy and get the best brand parts, and do everything the right way specially when dealing with cars under 4k, your not gonna make a dollar.

i cant even imagine having to deal with a $400 auction car. the amount of time to profit ratio thats gona go in it is gona be like if your working a minimum wage job

Your right 100% but the good thing is if you get a peice of shit you #1 run it back through the auction the following week or #2 break even scrapping/parting it out… Lost on an expedition i had $865 into w a bad tranny… Sold rims and tires for 500, cats were 220 and i got 570 in weight… I SHOULDA pulled the motor and both bumpers as they were mint and more $ but was happy to break even and even make a couple bucks.

Not quite, a ton of the cars i get for a g note or under need barely any work, i just sell em needing the bodywork and there gone in a DAY… Sold a car i got for $500 at auction with the buy yesterday for $2,300… Spent $21 on it and that was for an inspection… Had some rust and shit but was solid.

Theres also alot more competition with green lighted cars, because there zero risk involved and with more competition means more money being spent… I rarely get deals on Hondas and ill NEVER be able to touch a Toyota at auction… Fuckin 2001 civics with 160k go for 4k+ sometimes which is MORE then I think I can even get for it lol… And Toyotas, I see people getting DOUBLE what I can get for them, but im pretty sure they have connects to ship em out of country.
